Has anyone ever tried to carry their GS500 on one of those carriers that mount to the hitch and support the entire bike sideways relative to the vehicle? I know my truck is rated for enough tongue weight, and there are carriers rated high enough to support the bike. So, I know the numbers work out to indicate it could be done, but is it worth doing?
Thanks,
Sasha
I tried one of the $99 cheap ones with my XR650L and it scared the crap out of me. It would rock side-to-side on the smallest bump! My GS is about a 100lbs heavier. I've heard better chat about these:

and these are supposed to be able to haul a sportbike:

Exactly, might as well buy a bike trailer, at least then you have the versatility of taking the bike with any vehicle with a tow-bar, including when you change your vehicles and stuff.
drag behind carriers are better...and safer...

heck ya. a utility trailer that can handle TWO bikes and coolers/crap can be had for that much. an ENCLOSED used trailer can be had for just another hundred or so. i use my enclosed trailer for all kinda stuff. like when the wife kicks me out...

Man you were really thinking! I woulda just got the exposed 2 bike trailer with room to strap on my shaZam! but you went out there and thought outside the box! Heck now you can move out and she will never see it coming! :thumb:
