Title: FE wobble
Post by: mm75658 on September 29, 2008, 10:31:10 AM
well at highish rpm 6.6+ my FE wobbles left to right causeing a lot of vibrations and if you dont hold the handles firmly it can get to be a very dangerous wobble so if it front wheel alignment or my stem (this is coming after buddha and i did a Kat FE swap and i think he is getting tired of me bugging him so that why im posting) what do yall think?

Front wheel alignment and balance are the first things I'd check...

I am not getting tired of you ... just that I worked from home today cos I didn't find gasoline ... then I took 2 hours off from 10 - 12 to find gasoline and still failed ...
BTW I drive a stick shift, I cant be on the phone and drive at the same time, and its not got powersteering ... total PITA in slow speeds.
Anyway, I would say stem will bugger up all the time ... high speed and in fact in a certain range of speeds, its more than likely balancing ... extra rotor can throw it off bad ... try this ... remove the existing weights after marking where it is, see if it gets better or worse ... if its anyway affected, it is likely that.
Cool.

Shortage no just no gas any where and when you find it you may have to fight for it.  :2guns:
I think it is to make folks take the bus or trains.

Back to the original problem ...
Did it start wobbline more after the shock swap ...
Now remmeber the shock swap, combined with the clip on's will now put so much more weight on the front wheel ... so if you had marginal tire pressure, you'll be very low now ... in fact a little uneven wear can go a long way to getting it very weird feeling. Its all stiffer now, and you have that much extra sensitivity.
Usually tires more than anythign affect these I think ...

no or at least if it did i didnt feel/notice it and it is mainly at higher speeds so i guess the balance at which case ho whould i go about putting it into correct balance

No, I'd start by running tire pressures on the high side ... It can take 40 psi+ ... set to 40 ... try it ... then drop it 1-2 psi ... progressively till it feels the best and starts to get worse ... then reverse 1 step ... I ahve a feeling you're gonna need more air than before ...
A wheel out of balance can feel weird, and its my error for swapping the discs onto your wheel instead of using that wheel atleast till you got em all sorted out ... but I am gonna guess its pressure ... biggest and profoundest effect they have on the ride ... OK so its worse under braking ??? how does it feel on humps ... how about bumps ...
How did it feel before the kat FE went on but after the GSXR shock went on ... that will tell.
Cool.

ok well the wobble starts at about 38mph and gets worse from there on out ill try the tire pressure idea and as far as how it feels in the other conditions its perfectly fine it only starts to wobble at higher speeds and when i dont have a good grip on the bars

The Wobble - is it still doing this and have you tried anything ... and what did any of those changes do.
Cool.

check your wheel for flat spots. or unevenness. I have the same thing on mine and I've got to get a front tire and hopefully that solves it.
