My commute is 38 miles at 80 mph. Today got home and wife complained bike smelled strongly of gas...I hadn't really noticed but she is right. Exhaust smells like gas. Plugs look if anything slightly lean w/ a plug drop. Bike is getting 38-40 mpg combined. this bike has K&N drop in, no restrictor, 40 pilots, 125 mains, 1 washer and stock exhaust, at sea level. If I close the throttle completely and open it back up I can sometimes get a backfire through the exhaust. Any thoughts or recommendations. Bike seems to run pretty good, I've seen an indicated 105 in 5th gear.
I thought you need the restrictor on the drop-in. That might be your problem, so try it with the restrictor installed.
