For performance you can't beat the stock ones.

Tried to post link to the bar ends but it just goes to the main page. Just click 2002/GS500/Handlebar/then number 10.

These are really cheap and they worked fine for me.

They are the expanding kind.

I got some cheap screw in metallic blue ones for my '89 off Ebay, they were marked as Blems but look like new, said to fit a GSX600. I think they were about $3.75 the set! When I got the bike mine were both broken off by the PO crashing like a dork, and I had to get the broken off screw studs out of both the holes in the plugs. New ones went right in.

I splurged (I suppose, lol) and went with the Manic's (http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/2066/210/) for my 2006.  They should fit any standard 7/8" bars, though I don't know if that is relevant for the 2002 for the OP.  Heavy lil' buggers.

So far, in comparison to the "stock" bar ends, I find the Manic's better at reducing vibration and easy to install (crank like hell the hex screw till it expands the metal sleeve inside--literally took 5 mins). I also like the chrome look as it adds a little pizazz, imo.

Nope, you need ones for 7/8ths bars.

Keep us posted on what you do end up getting. I'm looking for heavier than the stock ones on my 2002. Thanks!
