Title: chopped exhaust?
Post by: tripleb on October 13, 2008, 01:53:20 PM
has anyone ever used a chopped exhaust?  I mean an exhaust can that has been taken apart and the pieces chopped down so that the can goes from 12" to around 8" like this...

It seems like that would take a bunch of work. Unless you already have a shop and a bunch of skill, it would probably be easier to just find some other exhaust you like an figure out how to make a bracket for it to fit on to your bike...

I helped somebody do one. It was super simple. We used a hacksaw and used a band clamp as a guide so the cut was straight. Then we just used a sharpie to make marks to drill then riveted the cap back on. He had bought a yoshi that had been scrapped up and after the chop it looked like new.

there's one on ebay and it's already all done so I don't have to worry about chopping it myself.  Just wanted to see if it would affect the performance or anything like that.

I recently sold one to The Buddha, it was cut down when I procured it, but it worked pretty well.   make note your bike will become significantly louder with a cut down can on there.
