Title: How do I "drain the carbs" on my GS500E????
Post by: 905mike on October 13, 2008, 06:59:01 PM
as part of the winterizing procedure, I need to drain the carbs.

How exactly do I do this? or is this best left to a licenced mechanic to do????? :icon_rolleyes:

Turn off petcock (under tank if you have a vacuum operated petcock).  Attach a small hose to the drain tube (at the bottom of the bowl) with the other end in a gas can.  Turn the screw that is near the drain tube.  If you do not have a small diameter hose, you can probably use a small cup.

Also, check the wiki for pictures. (http://www.gstwin.com/float_height_check.htm)

Save yourself some effort..........close the petcock and leave the engine running until it stalls.
