Title: Petcock Reserve Switchover
Post by: Harrylu on October 14, 2008, 06:38:52 PM
Hey guys,

So I've been riding my '96 GS for a little over three years.  I have a pretty good feel for the fuel starving jerks.  There have been a couple of times that I've stalled out because I didn't switch the petcock quickly enough to reserve.  The weather was pretty awesome this weekend and I took a pretty long ride.  On this trip, I stalled out twice because I didn't switch over quickly enough which was pretty annoying to my friends.  Just wanted to hear if anybody else has got some tips they follow or better yet other seasoned riders falling prey.

you can permenantly change your vacuum petcock to non vacuum. iirc dgyver did it, and posted a pictorial howto.

try bypassing the petcock completely, high throttle, see if you still starve it. if not, the jb-weld petcock fix will be for you.

Fill up by mileage instead of waiting for the gas to get that low.
