All for of my turn signal will no longer work. :dunno_white: They are all bulbs.. the one's in the back is halogen the ones in the front are normal bulb. Where do i start to investigate this situation?
When i press the left and right turn signal nothing happens. It just plain died. Oh an addition to this the green light in the front panel that shows if the turning lights are blinking is not even working either.
Question 1:Could one bulb being out cause this? I really would not think so..but you never know.
Question2: Is there a fuse for the turn signal? Where to i access this to check?
Let me hope that it is as easy as a blown fuse.. though why a blown fuse would be another question i dont want to delve into.
Other electrical things i have done to the bike that may or may not coincide with this issue: Before this happened.. actually 1 day before this happened.. i installed a heated vest system. a heated grips system. But they are not even tied in to the motorcycle circuitry. i hooked these up straight to the battery terminal. So i think this is just a coincidence.
the 'green light' is tied into the same circuit as the signals so if your signals aren't blinking neither will the light.
this is what i'd do...
1) i'd trace all the connections in the signal circuit ... wire could hae come loose. Make sure the circuit is grounded properly.
2) check the relay. one of the connectors could have popped off.
3) double-check the electrical work you've done to make sure you didn't break the circuit somehow.
it sounds as if one of those might fix it. but if not...
4) your relay might have crapped out. Try a new one.
It sounds as if the circuit isn't being completed. Maybe due to a loose wire or faulty ground.
Pull the leads from the relay, blue and orange, short them together in the plug with a paperclip or something. Flick the switch from left to right and if the lights come on........ the relay is shagged.
its problebly they relay its under the seat on the exhaust side its a little black box bout and inch by inch unplug it and by pass it. thats more than likely what the problem is. It happened with mine a while back. the only thing that sucks is that I had to get one from a dealer the ones form napa wouldn't work.
now is a good time to upgrad to LEDs :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

and when doing so, change your blinker relay to a two pring electric relay. the oem thermal relay will be stuck in the ON position (no blinking, just lights) with LED's low power draw
thanks all. now is this covered under warranty? i just got this bike 3 month ago brand new. If not then i guess its to the dealer i go to buy that stupid part.
you guys are awesome it was the relay.. wtf.. any reason this happened? it just is.. or can i do something to prevent it?
its electrical no one knows why it happens and nope nothing can be done just be careful when unpluging your turn signals make sure the bike is off. Thats how I fried mine. Look your old one over well and look for a melted area. If there isn't one then it just went bad things like that happen

If its brand new its covered, but if you have made alterations and replaced the OEM indicators with halogens or whatever you will have invalidated the warranty...........they might tell you to take a running jump.

easy, just remove negative battery cable. no prob with shorts then

if it happens again the very near future, then I'd worry... for now just chalk it up to a crappy/old relay and forget about it.
I'd just like to say that mine went bad too...In the first 3000 miles. It was my fault though, connecting two positive wires. What also burns it out is if you use LED's and you don't use resistors.

the relay? the LED draws such little power that the element in the (thermal) relay doesnt switch off. hence the use of electric relays. LED's burn out if you dont use resistors or wire them in series to take up close to 12volts
