Title: Yet another turn signal topic
Post by: efushi on October 19, 2008, 09:30:14 AM
I've decided to upgrade my stockie turn signals with gixxer stockies.  I can't really find em ebay for reasonable price, or maybe I'm a noob at searching.

I found these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Turn-Signals-Suzuki-GSXR-600-750-1000-K3-GSX-R-03-05_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1418Q7c39Q3a1Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c240Q3a1318QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem140270237574QQitemZ140270237574

I'd be using to replace all 4 signals

Stupid question I know, but they look like stock, anyone see any reason they wouldnt work and I shouldnt buy em?

I read that for gixxer stock signals "its a simple case of buying some bullet ends, stripping the wire and attaching them"

Thanks

I wouldn't buy them.  Not because how they look or will work(chances are they will work fine as long as the bulb is a similar wattage as the gs's-otherwise they'll blink a little quick).  But because they are from Hong Kong.  Who knows how long it will take, or how the order can be screwed up.  I'd deal in the US.  I bought some buell turn signal look alikes that are great from ebay:

They have the bulb replaced with a lower wattage one so they blink slower and fit where the old ones fit.  Anywhich way, shop "locally".

I think they probably would work as well, but something in the states would be shipped quicker and most likely you could get some used ones for less than that.  Good luck.

Thanks guys.  And those Buell look-alikes are hot.

Now a few question for Rickyz80:

     1. Are you saying that those signals came with the bulb replaced to flash slower, or that you had to replace the bulb it came with?

     2. Is installation pretty much the same as on the tutorial on Pablo's page?

Thanks alot for the help!

the way the electrical system work and they lower wattage bulb makes them flash slower, but you can fix that if you buy a new 2-prong flasher relay for a few bucks from an auto parts store.

The ones that you buy straight from harley/buell have a brighter and smaller clear bulb in them; with an amber shield around it to make it look like a turn signal.  It will blink faster with this bulb.  You can buy a flasher relay, or more simply, replace the bulb with an amber bulb of a lower wattage like the GS stock bulb(because you have to take the amber insert out to fit it).  This is already done with the ones on ebay and will be a direct plug and play with the ones I showed you.

I think pablo's gs website says it all if I didn't explain it but thats pretty much it.

I got mine from ebay.

They will work fine, they don't attatch in the stco hole but can be easily made to fit.

Their light bulb is a few watts LESS than the GS500's so they will flash just a touch faster. Nothing to worry about.
