Title: New Exhaust and a Clean(er) Subframe( 89' Streetfighter Build)
Post by: Jackstand Johnny on October 21, 2008, 01:28:11 PM
As some of you know I've been turning my $800 "89 GSE into a streetfighter since I bought it. I've had no real tools to cut, weld or fabricate so the process has been slowed quite a bit. Well after running into an old friend he agreed to help me along with this project despite his love for Harley's and his opinions about those "cute little crotchrockets".

Thanks to a no frills, all business exhaust made by Quiktaco( mad props Quik), the help of my friend...his welder...and his cut-off wheel, my bike is now one step closer to the final product. All it took was a few hours and a fist full of pain pills in trade.

I took pictures along the way to document this awesome journey through function, form, and true grit shade tree machanics to share with all of you the beauty that is streetfighterism...

... anyone wanna buy a stock exhaust and some footpegs?

It now matches your backyard.

I do like the missing exhaust, though.  I want to do that, but put in some insulation packing or something to keep the noise down.  Is that a baffle that I see in there?

Not happening, sorry.

I know those godless piece of sh!t signals need to go. I thought I had it covered with some cheap $2.00 amber indicators for a boat trailer I got at Wal-mart, but they didn't work since there was no ground wire. I'm broke from getting raped at the pharmacy for test strips for my blood sugar monitor, so I'm even further away from having money to work on my bike.

Been there, done that. I've burned many a healthcare programs for their monitors, but they all suck compared to the one I got when I went to the hospital a few years back. To releive some stress, I went outside yesterday and smahed them with a deadblow hammer. I feel better.

That tail light is out of control, it looks huge are you replacing it with something?  I like the no plastics look though.  Did you chop the seat at all?

How does that exhaust sound?

I know the taillight is terrible. It will get fixed when I know exactly where it's going under the seat. I was thinking R1 taillight, but who knows? The seat is completely stock. The exhaust? Find quiktaco's youtube video with his exhaust and there you go. It sounds like a beast.
