Title: Carb Swap
Post by: JBix on September 14, 2003, 07:54:42 AM
Hey all.

I was pondering ideas for squeezing more power from the GS, and thought I had read something about a carb swap on this board, but couldn't find it when I searched.  Has anybody swapped carbs to something a little bigger?  If so what all do you need to do?  Or, from the expert minds out there, may you offer speculation from those wise minds of yours?  This is just a passing thought, as is my idea of swapping a larger tank onto my '95.  It'll be a while, but on my to do, more like to TRY, list for when I get home, along with putting on my fairing, getting clipons for the fairing, changing fork oil, getting/installing an RF900 shock, flushmounts, tail/brake light (take breath) and whatever else I can think of.  Maybe making some kind of custom plate mount so I can get rid of that fender.

Thanks for any info you can offer!

Bix

I took a set of 36 mm GSXR 1000 carbs, which are more or less the same as the GS's, and using parts from the GS carbs, built a set of 36 mm carbs. I think you need to have a ported head, and maybe high lift cams, to see any benifit.

Keihin FCRs from Sudco would be the hot ticket. Bob Brousard runs those.
