Title: so..... having trouble finding a place to modify my exhaust.
Post by: psyber_0ptix on October 23, 2008, 02:22:42 PM
What do you guys do?

i have an r6 slipon that i need modified by slight. However two places i've been to said:

"wow, thats some thin material, our welders will blow holes right through it"

or

"sorry, we dont work on import's as its all metric sizing"

what the hell? where can i go to get this done. the midpipe just needs to be cut a bit, rotated and maybe shortened by an inch or three. i'm at a loss and have this wonderful yosh rs-3 that would make my bike sound/run better. but no one is willing to touch it.

where do you guys go for exhaust work on a bike?

Monro Muffler took care of my pipe after hours. The welds arent top notch, but its on there solid. they just shortened the midpipe and rotated it a bit. The springs dont line up anymore but they just tacked it together. i sprayed it black and it has just enough clearance from the swingarm. it sounds a LOT better. VERY deep not rhaspy and purrrrrs. Bike accelerates a lot quicker and overall feels better. will post pics tomorrow.

i have welded on alot of different metals and if its any type of muffler shop with any type of welders that know what they are doing there should be no problems.  might not be able to do a continous weld but spaced out tack welds until its completely done is a very easy process.
