Title: winterizing
Post by: Bluehaze on October 29, 2008, 12:10:54 AM
Question for you guys. Here in seattle area.. maybe wont be able to use my bike for 3 months.   I just got this bike here..so i may be being optimistic.. i ride in the rain its just the snow days and the freezing ice days that i dont plan to ride. I dont really want to do all the storing procedure.   I have no problem with starting my bike and letting it run for 30minute or less.  maybe twice a week or 3 times if needed.  It will run in one place.. wont actually ride it around.  Will that work to keep things greased up. I guess my only problem would be the battery charging..

If i were you, just take it out when the weathers fine, they really dont need winterizing just warm it up take it for a spin around the block a couple of times a month when the weather is good. When it gets cold you get lots of clear days then the occasional snowy one!

On lines of snowing days we had a suprise snow storm here yesterday, snow was ment to come in the night but it came midday and chucked it down. I got caught out on my motorcycle. Had a 50 minute ride home i couldn't avoid as i had to get to work later, i nearly lost my fingers! They were totally numb and turning very dark! I had to stop half way at a friends just to warm my hands to make it home. That was with winter gloves on. Hands are rediculously sore now. As for what i looked like when i got home, my boots, knees, shoulders and helmet had an inch of ice frozen solid on them, and my glove fingers wouldnt bend as they were also frozen solid. It was horrible! Ive ridden in the snow before as my bike used to be my only form of transport but when its that bad i would not normally even risk it. I got caught this time and it wasn't pleasant!
