I bought a 1985 gs 1150 esf with 5090 miles it is a sweet bike I have pics in my profile .I spent the summer drag racing at sky view in Owego new York its a 1/8 mi I raced my 1989 gs500 I was almost the slowest there then I took my dads 1980 gs 1100e and ran 7:50s at 94mph we are in the progress of building a Frankenstein bike we have a 1978 frame raked 6 degrees with a 1991 gsxr 1100 inverted front end and a 2006 gsxr 1000 swing arm with 8" in extenders welded in and the seven inch wheel and slick , bars . we are using a 1150 fiber glass body we are building a 13 to 1 1979 1000 two valve motor with a set of 36 flat slides rs carbs with a v&h sidewinder and are converting it 530 chain it should be ready by spring pic so far in my profile

I gotta agree. theres NOTHING wrong with building a dragbike, although some of us such as myself like the GS because its a nice little bike. No the GS isnt the best, or fastest, nor most powerful bike out there, IT IS WHAT IT IS, but its a great bike FOR what it is.
Punctuation would be nice, but I understood what you're saying well enough that I'm not going to complain about it.
If you wanna get a FAST bike, try an RD350 thats on its 2nd overbore, with DG pipes, minimalist equipment, and some porting done to the cylinders. THOSE are a competitive bike still today, and quite quick despite the small displacement.

I have a "real bike". I sold my GS shortly after getting it. I bought my GS back, now I have two. The GS isn't the fastest thing around but as a commuter or even a "hardcore" sport tourer it's a great bike.

I have had two gs 500 and I still have one they are a great Beginer bike , and cheep on gas , and real easy to sell to someone who has never had a bike. It is really hard for me being 17 years old to walk in to my garage and want to ride the GS 500 unless it is raining .I have many bikes to choose all of them are GS'S ,and the 500 does not hold a candle to any of its bigger brothers that I own. The little 500 is all over the road it's a rough ride not smooth at all No real power to speak of, to me anyway the 500 is more like a glorified scooter I tried to make my 1989 500 a cool bike I did a jet kit K&N filter pod R1 slip on timing advance painted it and i put fatter tires on it and it still did not have the power of my RM 250 .The money I spent on the 89 500 I could of bought a gsxr 750 that would out perform the 500 in everything except for fuel economy I am very sorry if I offended anyone but sometimes the truth hurts anthony

I like the GS for the reasons for the reasons you dis like it. I like a bike that is light. Which is one reason the the bike feels unstable. This little bike will go way above the speed limit. why go any faster? The way I see is any monkey can go fast on a big bike. But, that is just my opion. If that offends anyone I opligize.
