.... would help a few people. Pricey, though.
better yet, newer GSXR tail and subframe, like an 04-05 600/750 setup, which IMO looks 1000% better, and you've got a sweet bike. plus its probably better than any hyosung crap you can think of.
i like the tail on the hyo but I'd leave the top seat off, imo
I'd like the newer GSXR tail, but don't wanna weld on a new subframe. Just got the frame back from powdercoating. Might possibly get the Hyosung to fit without welding, even though it wont be kicked up at the rear as much. Was hoping to get some dialogue started along those lines, since I don't know about the interchangeability. If I have to, I'll figure out a way to just bolt on some sort of subframe to fit the GSXR.
Thought that maybe the Hyosung tail wouldn't look as fat on the GS as the GSXR does (or so I've heard). Your opinion, Bob?
I really want those blinker bar ends! I wonder how one would go about wiring them...
well, seeing that hyosung used to be a licensed manufacturer of suzuki motorcycles, and by looking at those frames i'd say a bunch of stuff probably swaps over. I know that the hyosung 650 is like, almost identical to the sv650. there's a hyosung dealer in town and my roommate has a sv650 so we went to look at the side by side and the frame is identical.

This is UNTRUE. Hyosung NEVER built anything for suzuki. EVER. their bikes are very crappy ass knockoffs of a Suzuki. just google Hyosung engine failure or engine problem. the ONLY thing the hyojunk has in common with the SV is the frame and the fact that its a V twin. hell the 250 I think is exactly the same bike, with just smaller cylinders. anyone who has had the misfortune of rebuilding a hyosung motor will state just how poorly built they are. its a freakin 2 wheel YUGO. stick with GENUINE japanese products.
But the cosmetic stuff shouldn't be a problem. I've been looking at the Hyosung GT250 parts, and anything not related to the FE or engine looks like it might fit a GS. Even the gas tank looks like it would fit, and I do like those rear end plastics.

You sir, are wrong, ^^^ THAT is untrue. Here is a Hoysung dealer stating "The truth is that Hyosung is a compnay that at one point in its' history was a licensed Suzuki manufacturer for certain motorcycles for sale in their home market of South Korea" if you would like to read it yourself here is teh website http://www.epfguzzi.com/hyosung/motorcycles/index.html

Would suzuki confirm this?
The bar ends should have the usual power and ground coming out, requiring a small hole drilled through, say, the center of the handle bars in the bottom (facing the forks). A grommet would finish things off nicely, or some silicone/RTV. I haven't called them, cause I've got a few tests I've been studying for, but I assume they don't have circuitry to make them blink at the same rate (like the wedge type LED's we've been using in the dash gauges. I'm guessing they would just route to the original blinker wiring, maybe with a resister (or whatever you call that thing) in between for proper blink rate.
Good dialogue concerning the Hyosung parts. While I agree that their mechanical components are junk, I believe it's irrelevant when we're talking about tail plastic. If anyone has access to the parts, we should look into compatibility. There is a set on ebay right now, but I can't afford the $55 for each piece.
Now remember, there are 34 ATP molecules produced in the oxidative phosphorylation step. :icon_confused:
Gross, what is that biochemistry? Good luck.
Unfortunately, considering how cheap the Hyosungs look, the parts don't reflect that in actual price. Hard to find too.
Those $55 pieces you speak of also have really expensive shipping. You would be looking at a $200 tail piece in the end with no seats, and probably incompatible taillight shape, not to mention your key wouldn't work in the seat release lock.
Too bad, I like the look.

Some cool parts. I bet that chin spoiler would fit an E with very little modification. Worth looking into. Also another after market fairing option?

Would suzuki confirm this?
Would Hyosung confirm this and what exactly does it mean? If you go to http://www.hsmc.co.kr/ then change it to english, go to company and then information and history you'll see that they say in 1979 they had a technology cooperation agreement with Suzuki. To me that sounds like they paid to use some suzuki design/s in manufacturing their own motorcycles. Calling them a licenced Suzuki manufacturer sounds more like they built bikes for Suzuki which is a very different thing. I think the dealer is trying to choose words to make people assume the wrong thing and make them believe that they are buying a rebadged Suzuki. They even go on to say their bikes have a suzuki look and feel to them, as well as quality. It takes more than a design to make a qualilty product. An identical design built in different manufacturing plants can end up with a completely different build quality. You see it all the time in many industries when a product switches manufacturing plants for the same item and the quality suffers.
Anyway, moving on from that issue the history also states that in 1987 they started "mass production by own technology", over a decade before the SV650 came to be. So the current Hyosungs are Hyosung technology and not licenced Suzuki technology. They have obviously based their design on the SV650 but as bobthebiker put it they are a knockoff of a Suzuki.
Hyosung is a company that has used marketing and it's technology sharing of a 1970s 185cc single cylinder two stroke motorbike to make people believe they are building modern Suzuki designed motorbikes.
The bar end mirrors/signals look sweet! I think I might use those on my bike! :icon_mrgreen:
That's what I'm saying! The world needs your bike to have those. It's karma, man! If you don't, somewhere an orphanage is gonna explode.
Nice find, Bluesmudge. Maybe I'll just get that rear seat set for $60 (helluva lot better than what I was looking at) and just make the seat cushions out of polycarbonate or something. I'm gonna have to finish my current rebuild for right now. Still waiting on that stupid 30x55x17 bearing from the stealership.
Guess I might have to be the first to try this, not many people seem willing. But, not like it's anything out of my pocket: my leftover GI Bill is paying for the bike, anyway. Thanks, Uncle Sam!
