Title: 2001 GS500?
Post by: jroymcd on November 05, 2008, 04:54:09 PM
I have had a few bikes already. my first was a SV650, then I  upgraded to a honda F4i.  Had to sell the F4 to pay rent

So I have a little cash left over and found a 01 GS500 that I could buy with the cash I have left. It has low miles, runs good but, missing most of the bodywork.  It already has a full pipe, pods and is jetted.

I dont ride that fast but,  plan on using mostly  in the twistys. I loved my SV, The F4 was actauly a little to much for me.

Will I be happy with a GS500?

If you already have an SV, the GS is such a similar bike its probably an unnecessary purchase. Ask yourself why you want it and see if the SV can already do that.
If you want a bike to beat on and commute on get the GS, otherwise what can it do that the SV can't? NOTHIN
Put the money in a savings account or upgrade your SV

bikeless right now.  sold the SV to get the F4

the  GS500 is all I can afford for now.

this is the one. I would street-fighter it out. I could get it for just under 1k

That's the one with the ghetto-ziptied instrument cluster?  From being 'dropped.'  :icon_razz:

Since it's fooked already, slap a crazy FE on it.  And make sure those lights are aimed.

yeah, thats the one. Im a programmer for a sheet metal shop so I was just going to make my own bracket and figure out a better light set-up.

its cheap and will be a project I can ride while I work on it.  when im ready to get a new bike I figure I could sell it and still break even.

yeah get it mod it ride it and enjoy it. Im building mine as we speak with full fairings and a r6 race tail, Im in the process of doing a dual exhaust an once thats done she will be complete. the GS is a great commuter and it does a real good job tearing u the twisties.
