yeah i agree with looks like poo. You could probably do a better job with a foam block covered with ducktape and make your own and paint it.
It's not a cosmetic piece - it's a piece meant to make your bike legal for racing. Most bodies have rules requiring a bellypan with the capacity to hold all or most of the bike's oil. Pretty much pointless on a streetbike.

I was just sitting here thinking, what if you got an oil leak, all of the oil would pool up, how would you tell? :laugh:

Its to save the guy behind you on the track when your engine explodes and drops all its oil at once. Instead of creating a massive oil slick, you just catch it all in the fiberglass thing. If you're in any kind of turn though, the engine seizing after all the oil came out will probably make you low side, then spill oil everywhere anyways as it overflows the side of the fiberglass thing as you tip over. At least your slide will be well lubricated in that case...
That's why you also run oil absorbent pads in the pan.
