Yea yea...vacation is a wonderful thing...Didn't ride the bike a single day...well I did one day just a wee bit...15 miles, didn't tinker on any of mine...made a California trip...just 3 days including the flights...Met Andy (70_cam_guy) accidentally and ginovega again planned...whoo hooo Now work sucks...

OK Both of these are better than... :guns: "who are you again??" :o ...OK so the full faired GS is comming because of me...what am I...Srinath Almighty...and even so I'd not make a Fairing for a GS...make it cheaper and put 16 inch rear wheels and belt drive on it and make it use less oil. That's my direction. I just hope they put lighter wheels or make some weight loss to make up for the fairing's extra heft...and hope its not paper thin like the new sport bikes.

Yes I noticed the board was absent your presence. And for $600 how rugged do you expect the new fairing to be? My guess is pretty flimsy but that ABS does hold up pretty well.
My guess is the bike will be 30 pounds heavier.
I'm thirty lbs heavier than when I got married, so I figure I'll get the bike so I can lose the weight. That evens it out :thumb:

no, the GS does NOT need a 16" rear wheel, and for godsake is doesnt need belt drive. No one here wasnt to pull their swingarm everytime they have to install a newone.
the reason LAZY boy wants belt drive is they are cleaner....and last as long as 4-5 chains....not likely to ever be changed
to remove the swingarm....what.... 20 minutes ... 5-8 bolts.... you dont even have to remove the wheel!

Nope...I dont care if it is heavier but I dont want the fairing...Say it got heavier cos of the oil cooler and a dry sump...great no problems with that. Fairing...and the metal frame that is needed to hold it...yuck. But Big deal I dont care and no I wasn't going to titanium bolts. That was your other friend.

Belt drives also let more power transfered to the rear wheel (they are as good as a new clean and well lubed non o ring chain and stay that way even when they get old...while chains drop off more and more as they wear), are much less likely to be broken and even if they do dont hurt anything, and yea cleaner and prettier with no effort on my part. 16 inch tires also last longer, have good cheng shin choices and metzler and dunlop and pirelli's etc in high mileage compounds and with the 90 series I have to use their circumference and ride height are same as the 70 series 17's that are stock.

OK if using the stock GS wheel...The best way is to get a vulcan 800 front sproket and a un drilled (or drilled for a marauder 800) rear pulley from www.scootworks.com. They make a marauder rear ...they have the patterns etc they just dont make and sell it cos its a bit harder to put in. Now we may have to make some mods...in the front...like an outboard bearing or drilling the countershaft and tapping it to take a bolt cos that circlip isn't going to cut it. Hell I have seen people that chewed that clip cos their rear wheel alignment was bad. But the chain is ~3/4 inch wide, and the belt is 21mm wide...or 7/8th...and a chain needs a lot more room around it that a belt...so we are fine for the space. I have been trying to pester the scootworks people and convince them that armies of GS 500 riders will buy their stuff...somehow I dont think he believes me...Now what would make him think that???
