http://www.bikebandit.com/product/A5421641

Will this work on my 2007 gs500f? Shoulld this be the one to install anyways? What do you guys recommend?
Someone suggested to get a K&N air filter and jet as well, how much hp increase can I expect?

DJ doesn't pretty much work on anything ...
Stage 1 is stock filter or uni and pipe or stock pipe right ... you need a +1 all around, 20 pilots, 1 washer under each needle, 132.5 mains and 3 turns on mix screw.
I sell a pack with these jets and float bowl screws for $22 bucks shipped in US. Or raid your local stealers jet box ... that's what I do ... except ... nowadays I have to order them.
Cool.

Does this exhaust system require rejet or mod to carbs?

If so, how is that done and what the cost of modding the carbs?

you can change your own jets in an hour, including removing the tank, cleaning the carbs, and reinstalling everything. it's not complicated at all, but you have to pay attention.

if you want a re-jet, buy from buddha, or send him your carbs if you doubt your skills and it's only like $40 or so. easy cheese man.

I'm new to this, but thats the purpose of re-jetting...what happens if you don't? Are there consequences?

If you dont rejet, it can run lean, run hot and run poorly.
I'd rejet a stock bike, its the best for it.
Thanks Ohgood - and advice is free, not just from me, from everyone here ...

What does re-jetting technically do? Your scaring me now lol...What does it mean run lean? High in gas?
Why would the manufacturer of the bike build it to cause problems...every manual of a bike says it has been set appropriatly etc...

lean = a hotter engine, literally. hotter engines use more oil, wear on parts more, etc.
the bikes are lean from the factory, not terribly, but when you free up teh exhaust portion, and then the intake, it's very very lean. like roast your pistons lean. eat spark plugs lean.

rich = you -might- foul a plug, or use more fuel than needed. very likely you will not damage the engine if you're rich.

lean = bad, rich = ok

wish i could remember the name of the airplane simulator that required you to manually lean/rich out the mixture. if you ran it lean for too long the engine blew up. good example. ;)

leaving the bike bone stock (restrictor on the air box) and all, it will be fine. adding a free flow pipe & filter means it will run like crap without rejetting, and you'll kill it earlier.

:)

Oh shaZam! I remember that OHgood!  f%$king flash backs from my youth.....well...not that logn ago, 10 years...maybe.  It was some ww1 air combat game.  Sopwith Camels Baby!
Anyways, Yeah Lean = somethign you dont want.  Rejetting just refers to changes the fuel mixture to make it run a little different.  In this case, better.

Oh and Buddha, I may be contacting you this winter, when thigns get a little too cold and wet for my liking, for a rejet kit.

Some of those silent killers ...
A valve hanging open, overly hot motor, low oil level ...
Cool.
