Title: Turn signal indicator & hi-lo beam indicator are dead...
Post by: TurkeyChicken on November 11, 2008, 02:08:31 PM
Is there an easy way to determine whether this is a bad circuit or if the bulb is just dead?

Also, i had seen a few posts about the little pieces of plastic that go over the lights... well, one of mine is missing (it was like that when i bought the bike).  Has anyone figured out an easy way to replace/macguyver these?

The fuel and neutral indicators both work, it's just the turn signal and hi-low beam indicators on the right side that are out.

//edit:  forgot to mention this is an '01 GS500

you have a FUEL light on your '01 GS500?

my '99 only has OIL, NEUTRAL, TURN, and HIGH-BEAM indicators.  just these four. ... funny after i bought my bike within two weeks, my tachometer light bulb, speedometer light bulb and headlamp bulb all burned out ... did a wholesale change on them .. no problemos since, so i'm sayin' it was just fluke.

ah, i mixed it up and said fuel instead of oil.

What do you mean by "wholesale change"?  Does that mean you just went through and replaced all the bulbs?

Usually, the problem is just a bulb or two is bad.    as for the lenses, damned if I know where to find em.

I'm not sure exactly how to replace the bulbs, since my GS had a TOTALLY different front end, and no speedometer, but you'll want a bulb model 194 for the indicator lights.
