Spec here.  NG 'smart grunt' or some BS.

Took a bit of a vacation to Pine Mountain to get in some hiking with the pup and dropped down to the Columbus/Benning area to catch the new Bond movie (I was on the verge of crying over what they did to that poor DBS)  I must have chewed out an entire platoon's worth of fresh Pvt.'s for jacked up uniforms, walking around chewing gum, hooting and hollering like they were back 'in the hood'.  When I go back, I have to make grade so I can get into DS school.
It was a good break for my body, but it's time to get back to the plates or I'm going to end up hurting someone.  It's light's out for myself, I plan on being there when they unlock the doors to the gym.

SPC...........if you'd ever like to email me ask Yama for my address. I've had a lot of experience in civilian life but not in the military although I've had to work with quite a few military types my last 34 years. I try to be a good listener. I understand bitterness, anger, and hatred. There are a lot of other things I understand. I won't post or pm any email address here because of the way I've been treated in the past and I know they "read them".  Gone to bed 5 a.m. comes early.......working like a bastard at 6:30. Give it a thought if you ever wanna correspond. Your friend, me

you started young Eh?, no matter how id reply it would be twisted and used against me. even though i am religious, i agree, it has to be out of state control. but a weird question. why is it that there is a prayer before congress begins. isnt that mixing the two together?
Title: Re: Sound Off
Post by: Revere2 on November 22, 2008, 08:42:58 PM
Now let me see..........let me think a minute.........Frank, you were in the Canadian Forces too? And in 1983 you were a private?
And in 1984, you were a Lt. Commander in the United States Navy? Now.......................I know I am fixing to compare "apples to oranges" but I'm going to convert them to apples and apples so just hang on a bit for I am "trying to understand". A Lt. Commander in the "Navy" is the same rank as a "Major" in the Army. Is this not true? For a "Commander" in the Navy is the same rank as a Lt. Col. in the Army. So a Captain "in the Navy" is the same as a Colonel in the Army which is right below a Brigadier General.
So in a year you went from private in the Canadian military to Lt. Commander? Damn. Or maybe I misread it and you served a lot longer.
No offense meant so don't get your panties in a wad! :)

If i read correctly, 83 was when he went into us navy?, idk what rank he went in at, frankie did you go to annapolis? how did you get the commision? i know there are ways to do it. im jsut not sure ., but i assume, ( correct me if im wrong) that you were promoted several times, during career?
Title: Re: Sound Off
Post by: frankieG on November 23, 2008, 12:07:17 AM
i was recruited as an ensign just like everyone else and went to the USN war college in Newport.  i did not get promoted to ltcdr until 2002.  so to spell it out it took me 18 years to go from ensign, thru college, lt jr grade,  lt, then finally lt - cdr.  why does do u guys care anyhow?  and quit 9/11 the board lol    while i was in the Canadian navy i was going to university.  i did well and kept my grades up.  but the Canadian officer corps was "elitist" and did not take ordinary seamen readily.  so i applied to USN War College and got accepted.  the USN is not just a better navy but they treat their sailors better and offer more career advancements.

frankie no need for the 9/11 references, gets OLD really fast. i was curious, ans to how one gots to the rank you got to. i figured you got in, low grade, and got promoed up.

Post by: frankieG on November 23, 2008, 12:21:15 AM
the 9/11 ref..i have been doing that for years.  yes i got in at the bottom of the barrel.   rev posted that i went from OS to Lt Cmd in one fell swoop.  that would be something to see lol.

i know man, it takes forever and a day to get that high up in the armed forces   , the 90/11 references, usually used by a certain group, ( which im at peace wiht now, and hopefully always) gets me, because i lost two relatives in that clusterfuck

Frank..............you were only steps away from some very serious money and power. Why did you not "go forward". Just curious.
That is power. Could you have been in command of a large ship or sub?
Title: Re: Sound Off

to be honest...i burnt out..i just was no good anymore.  my attitude was getting poor, i no longer believed in what i was doing. how could i lead men when i was unsure of my own conscience.  this was around the time i was fighting the navy to be allowed to be politically active. i had a choice to make and i made it.  i am happy with my decision and would not change it.

Yama, do you know a Seal? I have an old Salt in my hometown that was in Seal Team 3 I think. He knows all the guys. They have reunions every so often and drink beer like there is not gonna be any tomorrow. They have a Seal Team website I think. They are a "tight unit"!!!! A lot of them are getting a bit older now but they communicate.

i like to listen to htese guys, talking about what it was like, talking, ( about what they could legally talk about) one can close their eyes, and hear the words, and "be there" in the sense ofit

fair enough. one can find out if need be, but as of now there is no need to do so. nor is there a forseeable need. but that aside, with the ptsd, and the other probs, which i wont mention out of privacy and such. how would you make blackwater work?

Coming from a friend of a few guys with verified Psd, going back into any type of paramilitary organization would not be a great idea.  It could aggravate it and make it worse.  That shaZam! is no joke.
Title: Re: Sound Off

kinda like, " man if i was doing this right now...." hell man, i f i were not a diabetic, id be on with them, but i dont think it would be possible. besides, i want to get back to school, finish my degree, and fulfill a part of my life, that has yet to be done. ( working in a foreign country for a lil bit), every member of my family has doen so. at some location, . but then again, im not far from BW's training facility. so even though i cannot work for them, i can stlil partake of their training, in case that inevitable zombie battle comes, ill be prepared 8)

One of my best friends who is now deceased was UDT in in vietnam, old school SEAL. He did 5 tours, because everytime his little brothers paperwork as a marine came up for deployment he would tear it up and volunteer again. I understand where frankies coming from, Bob liked vietnam. He never adjusted to civillian life and I was one of the only non-military friends he had. One of my former bosses was a Tunnel rat, we were close enough that he would occasionally talk with me about it. 32 years after serving he was still so bad that when someone would throw a bad sheet of material off of their machine and it crashed to the ground he would cringe one night it was so bad he dove under his desk.

So whether I like your politics and POV or not frankie thanks.

I thought Clay Usie was persona nongratas with you.  In one of your previous rants, you mentioned something about punching him in the face if you ever meet the guy.  Glad to see you guys are buddies and fostering the Navy/Marine Corps team.

If you send him another e-mail tell him to stay safe and be kind to the DesertBees he meets.  I might run into him next year.
