Title: New Drag Bars = Problem
Post by: dgo99gs500e on November 17, 2008, 03:26:57 PM
I just put a set of bikemaster drag bars on and i like them but took the bike for a ride and going down the road at 65 or so the bike starts to buck and not much throttle response back it off to 50 or so and down shift and it works fine but it does not like going down the road at 60 to 75 with out kicking do i need to change to a shorter throttle cable or do i have another problem thanks

If all you changed was the bars, it is very likely a cable problem. Check your throttle and choke cables to make sure they have enough slack and aren't getting tweaked somewhere... Are you sure your having problem at a specific speed or are they really problems at a specific RPM. I know when I ride I typically don't rev that high until I'm in 6th trying to go fast.... The first thing I'd check is the choke cable. Make sure the choke can travel all the way in both directions. I bet that's where you'll find the problem...

Yeah its easy to install the choke cable in a way that it will open the slide all the way but not close it properly.  That or fuel starvation.

Cool I was wondering if it was the choke because at idle the choke does not work that great and going down the road messing with the choke does not change any thing i ll have to mess with it thanks.  I know its not fuel starvation i just put a crf manual shut off valve in place of the stock diaphragm one  thanks i love this site
