You guys know I had that accident in May. Well its November and I sent the title in for change over to Salvage (though in reality there was not that much damage that it required to be salvaged but i understand why the insurance co. did so.). In anycase....I was hoping to sell the bike (since i wasnt riding it as much anycase) to someone who can give it a bit more love. I've been riding it in the mean time.
I sent in the title to DMV they sent it back asking for the mileage (forgot to put it in) now they lost the title. Grr. So now I got to request a new title, then send it in for salvage with a new mileage number.. blah.
Oh well...
thats a GOVT agency for ya :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:
I can't go into the DMV and come back out in less than an hour. I think i am cursed.
Interesting story:
Once upon a time i had a sweet firebird. The DMV fatfingers my SSN with another who happened to have the same first name so at a glance i didn't catch it. I get pulled over 3 times no problem. The 4th time i get pulled from my car, searched, cuffed, thrown in the back of a cruiser. Then the SGT arrived. I got out of the first cruiser was uncuffed and offered some jolly ranchers by the SGT because i was having a rough night. He went on to explain and show me the fat finger. I went to the DMV and requested a new title, they had to check the area repository. Oh yeah they burned the original. 3 trips later, and a f%$k ton of time i owned my firebird.
Moral - the DMV is evil, and they now charge you for the pleasure of human to human contact.
Worst part of all this.. I know how the DMV works.. cause I am a frigging state of California employee. Thank god i do not work for DMV though.
Get the title from dmv ... and let them wonder about the salvage part ... if they lost it and you pay for it and get a copy ... dont see how you now have to again send it there ... screw them ...

try having 3 titles for one car. yep, i did at one time. the dmv screwed up and sent three, with different VIN's on each one. how the heck ?
oh, and on the same day, same mailbox, etc
i'll 2nd ss's advice to send use the non-salvaged title. if they can't keep up, screw em.
btw - you're not going to have to PAY for their screw up, are you ?
Ohgood baby ... it dont matter whose fault it is ... you always pay at the dmv.
The courts ... same thing. You walk in there with a bloody knife and say you killed someone right outside ... they say ... yes, that's 100 bucks in fines and 100 bucks in court fees. Counter 1 downstairs please.
NC dmv, gave me a drivers license number, and tacked a 50 fine on it for an accident (ran into the back of this blue haired 350 year old's car cos she stopped short ... like a block short on the highway) ... I get no ticket (atleast not for a moving violation) cos the genius also pulled into the left shoulder instead of the right ... like traffic was a dead stop ... I am pushing my bike to the right and I am there in 3 seconds ... then she sat 1/2 in the left lane when she could well have pulled into the right ... same 1 lane either way and fully sat off the road ... the cop had to stop traffic again to get her out of there ... anyway ... cop told her to get her vision tested ... and send me with a registration ticket.
So DMV fined me 50 bucks and gave me a NC license number ... WTF ... its like taxes ...
