I am starting on it in a day or 2, I'd say $60 shipped to lower 48. They will be powdercoated shiny black and drilled for the press in weights.
These are just about the only ones that fit a 04+ GS without hitting the fairing or the tank.
I have made several of these before and dont have too many things go wrong - all that can go wrong has and we have fixed it and kept going.
Pics - look to the left. The ones on top are close to the 4 welds.
Cool.
Buddha.
I want one but can I just pick them up from you ?
Send me a paypal address :thumb:
I'll do better than that cafe dude ...
You want to bring your bike over one day ... we can fit it on and we can take pics and see what adjustments we need to make if any ...
They overall work ... cos I made them and send out before ... but I dont have a 04 and that some how in my mind is unacceptable ... I wont make somehting I haven't used myself ...
Yea yea I have used them on a 90-00 ... but not the same thing ... It has to fit and work with the best possible compromise of all possible variables ... minor adjustments are always possible ... But once I jig them ... they are not going to vary from one another.
Much like James Bond cafeboy gets the prototype ... and he's under strict orders to not break the prototype ...
The name is Boy, cafe Boy  dry martini, shaken, not stirred.
Cool.
Buddha.
Whish I could, but not possible.
Still can,t ride due to my back and neck being jacked up and being GSless at the moment due to being out of work, but will be getting another soon. (I hope)
Gaaaa ... I'll then have to go back to stalking the other GS-F's around charlotte.

Sorry
there must be pictures when this wrenchin goes on ! i want proof the bike doesn't pandy itself afterwards ! ;)
so these work well on the 01 also?
Yea 01+ would be good with 4 weld, but ... davipu got the 2 weld bars fitted on his 01 though ... but in general the fatter tank means 4 weld bars.
ohgood ... what was that ... I will take pics fitting the bars on ... just dont know how long I'll keep the pics and where though ... somehow I lose the good pics I take.
Cool.
Buddha.
I'd be up for a road trip and some prototype bars if I didn't have the clip-ons and no time.
Any word on the carbs? I finally got my exhaust sorted out, for the most part.
any pics of them installed, i might be interested!
I would probably buy some if I could see a good pic of them. The 89 clip-ons on mine are ok, but I kinda wish I had gone Suburban Machinery instead so yours would be a good option.
K bike junkie - I had a question for you ...
The bent bars I sent you, is it a good fit - you had any trouble and any thing hitting any thing else ...
If that worked, I will imitate that ... that way 1 bar car work on both 90-00 and 01-09 ... aka 90-09 ...
BTW I closely copied 89 clip on's to make the 2 weld bars ... so yea turning them one way or another is the gain ... but other wise, no reason to go to these ... or these are ~1-2 inches wider than 89 clip on's ... so maybe that. Really I closely copied the 89's.
These may be a hair lower too ... so 1 inch lower, 2 inches wider and rotateable ... at a maximum.
Anyway, your call.
InNeedOfBoost: - sorry, I cant make 1 because I cant buy 3 feet of steel. In fact I cant buy any less than 100 ... I cant make a jig and make 1 either. I cant pay my welder for 1 bar, that is chump change and he'd never get around to it in this freezing winter we seem to have going here ... several of these ... over a 100 have been sold. Someone please put pics up if you can.
GI_JO_NATHAN: - Carbs - you never answered the diaphragm question - costs 20 in addition to the 45 for rejet. 65 and shipping, if that is OK, I can get on it as soon as I orderup and get it. In fact Its sitting in the cup holder of my car and I remember it every day ... atleast 2 X 2 hours ... Time to wrap up the loose ends ... send your and tripleB's carbs and I am good ... free to concentrate on the other BS.
Cool.
Buddha.
Sorry Buddha, thought I let you know to do whatever it takes. Just let me know the damage and I will send you the extra.
Thanks, JoNathan
Yea 20 bucks. You already pay for the rest right ...
You have my paypal already ?
Cool.
Buddha.
Yeah, the ones you bent for my clip-ons work, though they have to be in just the right position for none of the controls to touch the tank at full lock. also, I have had to do a lot of fiddling to get the angle to where it feels right, but I liked the sweep of the stock bars better for comfort (on my wrist) but the height with the clip-ons is much better.

Yea the banana bends need to be put and bolted in at the right angle ... it was never meant to fit on the bubble tank and the fairing ...
I will get a close copy of it jigged up ... however if I get more offset (as in the part where the handle tubes start if its an inch or 1.5 inch forward it will clear everythign easier ... which is why the 4 welds work so well ...
GI_JO_NATHAN - 55 = 45 and shipping, so 20 now will cover it.
Cool.

What ever you want, just let me know.
cafeboy
Cafeman - paypal is OK, I need starting $$ ...
The goal is to get $, make them with that $ and get them all out when done ... dont need to sit for months with the $, and have a bunch of bars when I'm done.
Watch your PM cafeman. You can pick up or I can bring it by on a weekend ... not a problem.
Cool.
Buddha.
Just bumping it to the top.
I have to get them done ~christmas, else they prolly will end up waiting for ever ...
Cool.

hey Buddha, ( lol almsot called you somethign else) next sportish bike i get, if its not a gs500, ill hook up with you, and see if you want to try another model of bar, err a bar liek that for another model of bike. with teh truck wreck tonight, me gettign another bike may come sooner than i expect3ed
I suspect the 4 welds will fit pretty well on a ninja 650, SV650, FZ1/6, Z1000/750 kawi, among others, cos those all take the SM2's and these are too close to the SM2's ... how well and how comfy ... and if it will clear everythign in all possible rotational configurations ... that is the Q, cos I made them with slightly different angles and lengths ... to clear an 04+ for all the controls etc ... so its a wee bit different than an SM2. man If I make them and have a few lying about, I'll flag down random bikes off the road and fit them. Problem is ... I dont have any sitting around after I make them ... I sorta make just as many as ordered. I hate having un sold stuff.
Thanks for not calling me somehting else. :D
Cool.
Buddha.
Those look sweet!
I dunno there is a lot of inertia for orders, and I am dead set against making them and sitting on them. I work with no margin ... in fact the first 2 lots ... ~25 bars I made 3 years ago, I lost $$$ ... almost 6-7 a bar. Steel is $$$, almost pushing 4.50 a foot ... like 4 bucks a lb and 1lb is ~11". Welding, jigging, mitering, testing ... gaaaa ... Anyway, having stuff sitting is a good way to sell them, but I'd rather get pre-sold ... then make a few extra and sell them. I'd like to see a recession ... true recession where steel and other industrial commodity/raw material prices drop to reality.
These bars look like crap ... we threw pain on to cover the scrapes and grind spots ... lousy ugly mess. The burrs weren't smoothed, pityful. But the focus was on getting it properly jigged ... that worked - :thumb:
I dont even know why I try crap like this ... yea I know ... because I can ... forget it ... bwaaaa ...
Cool.
Buddha.
been a few months since I sent payment. Is this ever going to happen?
Yes it will, how and when is the question. I talked to my welder about a slightly different way of doing it. I dont know man, I can refund you if you're impatient.
I wont advocate waiting for anything if your part is broken. Dotn ride around with a badly bent/broken bar saying you want these. Some of these experimental things take longer than they initially seem.
Cool.
Buddha.
just not sure how long I can even hold on to my bike. got laid off and might have to put it up for sale.
sure would be nice to get the bars before I have to sell it. If I dont get them soon im going to have bars and no bike :dunno_white:
