Hi,
Its the first time I have done a oil filter/oil change for my bike. The new KN-133 filter came with a o-ring that was really loose and was coming off when I fit it on the filter cover. Hence, I stuck with the old one after taking it out but now it appears to be loose too and doesn't fit well on the oil filter cover even when I screw the cover back on.
Any suggestions on the adhesive I can use to keep the o-ring firmly stuck to the oil filter cover without any slack?
Thanks.
A dab of grease would probably work.
The form gaskets are a real PITA.
Solution:
Most of them seem to be too small. So, grab your hair dryer, heat it up, and stretch it. Hold it in the stretched position until it cools completely. Now, immediately install it into the groove in the cover with a little axle grease to hold it in place. Be quick in reinstalling the cover, before the gasket shrinks back to normal size.
Works every time for me. :)
Thanks for the suggestions. I will try some grease on to it. Though the new o-rings are already pretty stretched and loose. I wish they have been shorter though.
I had a similar problem on my first oil change and someone on here suggested using a very small bead of black RTV silicone.
Put as little as possible in the groove on the filter cover then press the gasket into it and bolt the cover back on the bike.
My new gasket leaked a bit at first but eventually it swelled up and sealed after a day or two and it hasn't leaked a drop since.

How long did yours leak? This is day-2 with Fram's "not quite the same" O-ring and it is still dripping a little.
I don't remember exactly how long it leaked, but I know it quit dripping within a week for sure.
At first I tried to use the old gasket but that leaked like crazy, then I got a new gasket with a filter and it still leaked a little.
Finally adding a little black rtv under the gasket is what got it to stop leaking.
