Title: Center stand after shock replacement
Post by: Porkchop on November 24, 2008, 01:18:54 PM
When PO replaced stock shock with Kat shock he also got rid of the center stand because it was useless for the new height.  Is there a center stand available that is longer than stock that would be a direct fit for our bikes?

I'm pretty sure the stock centerstand isn't completely useless with a kat shock, or at least I hope not; Cause I just bought a new shock.  The shock only lifts the back 3/4 of an inch or less.

Chances are if you can weld and fabricate decently, modding a stock center stand won't be a problem.  That's what I'll do if this is the case.

If thats the case, I wonder why the PO took it off.  How long is a stock center stand?

MY 89 has a Kat shock and I'm using the stock centerstand right now to wait for my engine to cool to check the oil. Maybe he/she just wanted it out of the way cuz it looked ugly idk :dunno_white:

Could be.  His only comment was it was useless and thats why he took it off.

Are 2001-2008 center stands the same as for older models?  If so I can go to the dealer to measure the center stand on the showroom bike to see if it will work for my 97.
