Title: Good times
Post by: jdw03n on November 25, 2008, 01:28:36 PM
So I bought my 93 GS to learn on, and to learn to do some wrenching.  Couple of weeks back, some jackass slashed my rear tire.  So I'm thinking, here's a good opportunity for me to learn. Do the research, look at a few sites, got the clymer manual, ready to go, right?

Pull the cotter pin, and the back axle bolt ....will.....not....move.  I can only imagine the last guy to change the tire put it on with the strength of friggin atlas, torque specs be damned.

Ended up breaking the ratchet trying to get the bolt free.

Newbie mechanic then phoned it in, dropped a stupid amount of money to get the back tire changed.

Must....Ride...

Use a breaker bar for axle nuts, not a ratchet.

i have a socket wrench that is non racheting, is a round, half inch thick piece of steel, and it is 3 feet long. that did it for me.
