Title: Connecting rod length
Post by: Kurlon on December 05, 2008, 08:41:09 AM
Anyone know the center to center length on a stock GS500E connecting rod?  I'm trying to estimate a good starting lobe center for cam timing, and the only theory I have on it is to find the max piston velocity, and use that point to target your lobe center for the intake.  To do that I need to know the rod ratio, which means I need the rod length.

[bump] just 'cause I'm curious

I have a couple loose ones I can measure later tonight, unless someone else does prior.

2.036:1 rod ratio, so an intake lobe center of 78 to 80 degrees ATDC?  (Gotta do the math in finer increments to nail it down.)
