Title: Funny Stupid Story
Post by: Skeets on December 09, 2008, 10:58:40 AM
So yesterday here in MD, it was about 18 degrees. I usually wake up at 7:30 A.M and leave at 8:00. I woke up early to ask my brother if he could see if my bike would start (because it usually doesn't like to start in the very very cold.) So he comes back and tells me it won't even turn over.

He then goes out and reads the battery volts and says it's 12.5...but won't start.

So we put it on the tenderizer and I walked to school. I get home and turn it off and take a nap.

It's now late in the evening and I decide I'm going to put the battery back in and try to start it. My brother comes with me (he rides a ninja 250).

So I put it back in and ask him "what did it do when you tried to turn it over?" he said the lights just went out...and nothing happened.

I then see that the bike is not in NUETRAL!! I then ask him "When you tried to start it, was it in nuetral?" he then started laughing, and I said "Oh my god."
It then started immediatly.
Damn Kawasaki owners.

Yes tenderizer ... a must for trying to chew through the pesky frames and other metal parts ... you dont even want to try it without the tenderizer.

Cool.

so to add to the theme of stupidity.....

when i first started riding and had my honda rebel, i had a similar starting issue; i was getting ready to go out for a ride and wanted to warm up the bike. but wait, turned the key, pressed the starter, NOTHING. hmmm....i too thought i wasn't in neutral so i shifted through gears. hmmm...not starting. then my friend, who was waiting for me so we can ride together walked over and pointed out that the engine kill switch was on. DOH!  >:(

Oh ... the damn virago 535 I had, when it blows the fuse, will crank over but not start ...  :thumb: ... sheesh who thought of that ...
Also ... it had an oil light that will come on at startup ... and on hard acceleration ... it was level sensitive, not pressure, and its regulator was bolted to the exhaust collector. Like bolt a heat sink onto the hottest part of the bike. BTW looks like its not a long lost trend either. The SV has it fitted to the front cylinder ... vibration and heat ...  :thumb:
Cool.
