I'm looking for a used GS500E. There are two available locally and I think they're priced a bit high ... both seem to be in at least average condition with no huge cosmetic issues and functioning fine with regular maintenance.
1) 1997 blue - $3000, comes with a fairing
2) 2001 black - $2750, new back tire
Kelly Blue Book has these around $1800 and NADA is about the same. Thoughts? Would I be paying too much for these?
Thanks - this looks to be an awesome site!
for the 1997 that's wayyyy too high. if the 2001 has like 5 miles on it and is in perfect condition id say thats fair.
oh yea - the '97 has 9k on it and the '01 has about the same. What would you guess is a fair price to offer? Are NADA and KBB accurate? (FWIW, I'm in a fairly large metro area)

I wouldn't offer any more than KBB. I got my '94 for $1000. It had 82,000 miles on it when it got it, but it runs fine...
I got my '04 in mint condition with 5000 for 2800.
Dob't think an "F" would be less than an "e"

where you located?
with the crappy economy, I would only pay under KBB and Nada. Not a penny over.
YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW WHAT I PAID FOR MINE BUT I'VE LOOK AT SOME OTHERS AND THOSE SEEM A LITTLE TO HIGH PRICE WISE. NOW IF THEY WERE CUSTOM (WHICH THEY PROBLAY ARENT) I'D SAY THATS A FAIR PRICE. BUT UNTILL THEN KEEP LOOKING.

not enough information.
how many miles, is it stock, condition of the tires/chain/engine ?
do they have records of services ?
the 1997 didn't come with a fairing, and it won't just slap on without some modifications.
the years don't matter nearly as much as the maintenance or lack of it.
either bike isn't worth more than $1800 with zero miles to me. it's the same bike ;)
Mine is a 1999 with a KBB retail value of $1800. The trade in value is $1300, and I'm asking $1200 for mine which is in better than average shape, has been rejetted, has progressive springs, the quarter faring, the belly faring, tank bra, and Corbin seat. What does that tell you?
Sounds like you should Drive to Indiana and buy Oramac's !! I'm in Cincinnati and this past spring there were 6-7 of them for sale and they were going for about the price those two you are looking at are listed for ...and they were selling in a matter of days. I (over) paid $2300 for a 1993 with 5,000 miles, but thats what the market was like around here. Of course gas was also over $4.00 a gallon so they were selling at higher dollars because of that too.
Swing over to Indianapolis and Oramac and I can meet you there and for $3500 we'll sell you two of them, eh oramac ?!
On the open market, isnt it worth what someones willing to pay?!
I might get laid off right before X-mas. If it happens I would let my 2001 go for 1,000.
12k miles, Yosh pipe, jetted, K & N, Kat shock, dual headlights........

Sounds great, but I'd be willing to sell mine alone if he's interested too! :thumb:
Thanks for all your feedback!
One more came up today for $1900. Gives some leverage over the others I initially mentioned. Haven't heard back regarding year (it's blue) and miles, but he had the carb overhauled, fuel line replaced. Not sure if the former indicates its older or has sat a long time ...
I'm in Salt Lake City ... so if any of you with bikes to sell know a cheap way to get it out here let me know!
Matt
