Title: best place to mail order tires from?
Post by: jrsgs5f on December 12, 2008, 03:04:28 PM
could anyone point me in the right direction.  I need a new set of tires for my 07 gs.  If you could send me any links that would be great.  One other question.  Is there any performance improvement from going a bit wider in the back?   I love the way the bike handles and i wouldn't want for it to suffer.  any suggestions are welcome.  thanks in advance.

Well, here is where I've been ordering my tires from, American Motorcycle Tire (http://www.americanmototire.com/catalog/). Pretty good prices, but not always the cheapest, good on shipping too.

My wheel weights came in the mail today, woot, so tomorrow I'll balance and then go for a spin :)

thanks guys.  I ended up finding that site on my own just digging around.  The only tires i can find the right size in is the Pirelli Sport demon.  They look pretty nice, but i was wanting to compare them price wise with some other tires.  I looked ate the tire section on the wiki and searched for some of those other named tires but failed to find any other than the Pirellis.  Do you know the model of other tires that come in our size?
thanks again.

Avon Roadriders, Bridgestone BT45, Metzeler Lasertecs, Michelin Pilot Activs, and Pirelli Demons are all good sport touring  bias ply tires that come in the 110/70-17 and 130/70-17 oem sizes and all should be available at AMT.  They should also have Kenda K671 and Maxxis Promax in our sizes at bargain prices as well a some others.
