What kind of degreaser? Any kind because we have some at the kitchen i work in. Degreaser won't hurt plastics will it?

ya it will problay be bad for plastic since it breaks down petrolium.

If your carb internals don't need seviced and you only want to clean the exteriors, that can be done with the carbs mounted. I use B-12 Chemtool® aerosol carb cleaner. Careful spraying and wiping gets most if not all varnish and gunk off easily. For areas where overspray may cause harm (especially paint), soak a cloth or Q-tips and rub the crud off. The stuff probably isn't very rubber/plastic friendly, but it evaporates so quickly I've never encountered any problems.

Kerosene and a tooth brush works really well. Just dont expect to be able to brush your teeth with the brush afterwards.  :thumb:

Wonder if we got any kerosense lying around? P.s. Kerosene safe for use on rubber?

Already took them out and drained the float bowels and everything just debating how much i really want to take them apart because it took me like 3 hours to just get them out and also would have to go to store for carb cleaner, but then again i need to hit up the store to look for rust remover and POR-15 anyway...

If they're off, at least clean the jets and bowls.  That's where most of your problems will be.  If you had trouble taking them off, imagine putting them back on and finding out they leak because of rust in the float needle seats.  I'm as lazy as the next man, and taking them off and putting them back just pisses me off.
