Title: I WANNA RIDE :(
Post by: Toogoofy317 on December 15, 2008, 02:11:26 AM
 It hasn't even been a week yet since my surgery and I wanna get on my bike   But the doc says  :nono: . I just got in the car today and after slamming on the brakes and being lunged forward don't know how good an idea that was   I'm trying soooo hard to be a good girl . I'm pretty sure Yama won't buy that for a minute but it's hard to sit in the house and be a sick person!

Well, I'll stop my whinning for now!

I know how you feel about being stuck in the house.  :cookoo:
I've not been able to ride for about six months now and don't know when I will be.
Just give it time and I hope you feel better soon.

Surgery > Winter.

Toogoofy, i feel for ya, I sadly am stuck in the depths of winter.  Rest up and try not to adventure to much, i know its hard being couped up when your used to doing what you want when you want, it down right sucks.

You need to be a good girl and do as the doctor tells you!  I know...It's hard to be a good girl when you are a bad girl at heart.

I kinda think it sucks more having the weather being nice and not being able to ride. I mean at least during the summer when it rains every day is 98 degrees with 98% humidity I can say well it wouldn't be that much fun to ride with the tourons. But, now it was 73 and sunny today and I had to take the car. Couldn't even put the top down because of the thieves that broke into it!

I got some new grips for the bike so maybe by putting them on it will get a little bit of this out of me! BTW can you get the stock grips off without cutting them? Would like them as back up if these don't take out the vibration like I want them to.

Mary

an option for the vibes is to remove one grip, fill bars with bb's, and reinstall grip. Hell if it works on an out of tune/time harley, it will work ona  gs , it worked onboth my gs's bars as well as my harleys, ( when i had it)
Title: Re: I WANNA RIDE :(
Post by: Toogoofy317 on December 16, 2008, 01:42:47 AM
That will work on the '04 as well? I'm guessing like a 1000 pack of the BB's would do the trick?

I had to work today which I wasn't expecting. I get tired of the schedule changing constantly. But, at least was an easy gig Security for TNA wrestling. You know the one on Spike TV. It is taped here at Universal. But, you would think people would see the sling and not pat you on that shoulder but NOOOOO. So, I am extremely stiff and quite a bit of pain Esp. when I turn my head to the left. I guess that the catheter in my subclavian and the port are a bit snug so I don't have the distance I normally do. Will have to ask the surgeon I guess. And I just can't shake this low grade fever. What I'd give for a good massage right now!

yup bars are bars are bars. as long as you can get to the inside of them, aka removing grip tehn it wil work
Title: Re: I WANNA RIDE :(
Post by: Toogoofy317 on December 16, 2008, 02:05:07 AM
So, I can get the grip off without destroying it? The guy at the Motorcycle Clinic said to cut it off! I also have to remove the bar ends to and cut out the ends of the new grips so the bar ends will go back in.

Are the ProGrip brands good? I got the gel ones. I'm a wimp cause I can't stand much vibration in my right wrist and I know I will be even more tender because of this surgery for awhile. So, going for best solutions possible. Will I need to fill both bars for balance?

Just full of questions tonight!

if you get yourself a can of WD-40 and take the stream spray tube and shove it under the grip and squirt some in there and work it a little the grip will slid right off.  Once of wipe WD-40 off, do what needs done, (this is going to sound gross) and spit in the grip to give it enough slid to work it back on the bar.

Oh i forgot that you are probably at home, dish soap works better than spit, spit works good in a crunch

Do you have an air compressor?  You can get the grips off by using an airgun and forcing air under the grip between it and the bars and wiggle it off.

Ehhh,

I stopped by the surgeon's office today because I've been having a few small issues plus the hospital didn't give me good post op details. I can finally take a shower :thumb: now I don't stink sooo bad! Apparently I wasn't supposed to take the top dressing off the second day guess the receptionist at the surgeon's office didn't actually ask the nurse :dunno_white: but said it was ok because the steri strip was still on there. The nurse said my low grade fever didn't seem to be related to the incision cause there's no redness. I slyly slipped in do you think I can ride my bike yet? She was like "You must really love that bike". Uhhh, yeah I do. "We'll you're gonna have to wait a while longer cause you're in no shape!" "Talk to the doctor on Friday and he'll give you an idea on when you can get back on your love."

As for me I feel lousy. I tried to go out shopping but when I stopped to eat I got severe abdominal pain and nausea. Bad meal I guess. Got to my friend's house and rested tried to eat dinner and half way through pain and nausea! I'm running a low grade fever and having chills as well. I'm just praying that it is not my Chron's disease joining in on the fun. I don't think I could handle this issue on top of everything else!

BTW Frankie on who's bike would I be riding pillion on? And when you gonna make it down?

I'm not even sure anymore. I have so much going on that matcing symptoms gets complicated. These symptoms also match that for another emerging kidney stone that my urologist thinks I may have. I have to get a CT scan next week to take a look. But, I also have something in my lower right abdomen that we are trying to pinpoint exactly what it is. It is close to an ovary so it could be a cyst that has similar symptoms. My Crohn's can mimic the same thing. :dunno_white: I am just so sick and tired of being sick and tired!

What I'd give to have my health back!

Hun, i say the same hting lol, im not as ( i say this as  a friend) messed up as you atm, BUT since the car wreck, im gettign small momentary panic attacks and shaZam! like that, along wiht my diabetes and shaZam!. that i am not a happy camper much i may end up seeking help wiht my mental health, not a major issue, but since the 10th ( the date of the accidetn, ive been a but of an OCD type while driving, ive been accused of driving like grandpa before, now its even more so lol. i do the speed limit ( usually more) but take my time pulling out or merging or whatnot. and tomorrow i get to do battle with the adjuster and find out how bad i get lowballed, so my nervesw are not too good atm. i fractured the law slightly, and got a few "aspirin" for my muscles, since the only way i can legally refill is to go to the ER ( which tehy will pay for, but it is a pain in the ass )

Actually, through the car insurance you can go to your primary physician! They will just bill the insurance instead. Or you can go to a walk-in clinic as well. You need to be properly assessed before they try to settle and you are then stuck with the bills.

I have a friend that got into an accident once and will never drive again. He is thirty now and walks five miles to work everyday. He walks up to ten to go to the store!Florida has non-existant mass transit and not a reliable bus line. He is getting more and more afraid after near accidents while riding that he is beginning to not want to ride now. Because, of this phobia he is stuck at a dead end job he hates but is trapped because there is no other place within walking distance. He as too much pride to ask for a ride he would never ask for a ride even if I was getting off at the same time. I'd have to force him in the car so he would be home in ten minutes versus and hour.

Sooooo please nip this issue in the bud it can ruin your life. Do you have someone that can go with you to do battle with the adjuster. Stress is not good for the body can throw off the diabetes and such! Do you have Aol instant messenger if you do I'm Toogoofy317 there too. Maybe we can chat some.

Take care. I hope the insurance meeting goes well and you won't get ripped too much. Wish me luck with the Gi doc tomorrow. If it is my Crohn's flairing up I could get thrown in the hospital! I wish they could figure out what's going on. Six doctors appointments a week at $20 a pop is getting expensive on disability no less.

well good luck  , if it is your crohns, then well youll have to get it taken care of. im praying for you no matter what. as far as the forthcoming battle lol, iwont settle for anythign less than a running, driving and paid for vehicle. thats what ihad before, thats what i deserve after, so ill ask them " will  your offer pay for a vehicle which will run? drive, and pe paid for and registered?"

Well,

Saw the Gi doc today. He doesn't think the pain, nausea, and fever are related to my Crohn's. He felt it was probably gyn associated with the inflammation. He was concerned with the symptoms esp. the fever so he prescribed two antibiotics. He also felt bad that I'm just getting bounced around by all my docs and didn't know why my surgeon didn't at least do a laproscopy to check it out. He told me that if the Gyn didn't do anything on Friday to call him back and he'd see what he could do. He's a good guy when I had my last upper GI none of the Nurses could get an IV in so he came in and did it himself ended up in my foot but he did it. If you've been in the hospital doctors don't "DO" menial tasks like that.

I was a BAD GIRL today. Thought I would just sit on the bike to warm it up and "realized" that the last day I rode it I went down to reserve and left it on that setting. For the "fear" of having issues with the carbs when I got to riding again I "found" myself rolling it out of the garage and before I knew it was at the gas station getting gas. And well since I needed my scripts filled took it over to the pharmacy to get it filled. I only rode eight miles round trip but I "felt" it! So, the bike is going to sit in the garage for quite a while longer. I must admit it mentally felt good to get back in the saddle!

I just hate being sick lying around 'cause my muscles are cramping, not wanting to eat because it hurts afterward. And the other myrid of things that suck!

Bad Girl! :nono:  Bad Girl! :nono: Bad Girl! :nono:  Your grounded for the rest of the day.  There...now you don't have to feel guilty about it.

Seriously, I'm glad you found a good doc.  They are rare.  Please take it easy and get better soon.  I would hate to visit while you still can't ride.

{virtual spanking}. lol hell i about went back to the ER today. hell every damned muscle i had hurt like all hell, on a 10 scale i was a good 9 to 9.5, so i went home and went to bed. but shaZam! it cost meaabout 2 hours work time, ( catnapped in car) doc had said NO HEAVY LIFTING!, im like okay, did i listen? nope, and that wiht my body withdrawing from the painkillers threw me for a loop, that and teh nausea from the chantix ( stop smoking pill) man that whipped me worse than any fight ive ever had. i forced my self to get up and walk around to keep from hittign the ground and going fetal. and finally i did, and later on, obtained a few more "aspirin" to help if needed. im not going to use them, UNLESS there is no way around it. and here in a few days i may end up looking into some psyuch help to deal wiht the damned apprehension i have while driving. at least talk with them, and find out what can be done differently :whisper:

If you work for a larger company many of them have what is called an EAP employee assistance program. They usually have free mental health services like the first 3 or 4 visits.

If not there should also be some free clinics that will help with little or no cost to you. Did you speak to the adjusters yet.

As for me i've been out of it all day! Only thing I got done was the ultrasound came back home crashed. No appetite and pain. I hope the two docs I see tomorrow will do something! I can't keep going like this!

i work for a small mom and pop pizza place right now. the local health dept has a mental health section, im contemplating looking into, ( might be able to bolster the med part of the settlement.  i talked wiht adjuster today they offered 1430.37, which is about 500 more than i had for the truck in CL som im going to take that. HOWEVER they want me to send them the title, which ive no problem with mainly because the truck will never see the highway again, so the title to me is mostly worthless. HOWEVER i wont release the truck without the check being in my hands. ive yet to tell them that, but were gonna be talking tomrorow anyway, cause im going to throw a battery into it, and limp it over to my friends car lot, inside their repo yard. 8ft fence with barbed wire coils on it. and i wont release the truck until i am paid, hell im keeping my rx7 convertible there as well, until i get the v8 swap done :thumb:
Title: Re: I WANNA RIDE :(
Post by: Toogoofy317 on December 19, 2008, 11:10:27 PM
Well,

at least it sounds you are getting a descent deal. But, yeah I'd definately make sure that is just for the truck and not your medical expenses too! They will try to sneak that in. So, definately watch what you are signing. Also, try to get in and talk to someone about your emotional issues of the wreck so it can be documented and your expenses can be covered. You should also be able to keep the rental until that check is in your hands too.

I spoke with the surgeon today and he said my incision was healing well! He said when I felt like riding that it would be ok because the incision seemed very sound. He also told me if I couldn't get any relief from the gyn that he would do a laparoscopy but if it is the inflammation around the hernia repair area that he might have to take the mesh out. If that happens I would be stuck with a baseball size hernia and a very hard surgery to recover from! SOOOO, I don't know what to do?!?!? They gyn said he did not believe that it was gyn related because he said he did not see any cysts and since the last gyn never biopsied the endometriosis he couldn't rule that out. He referred me to an abdominal pain clinic BUT they can't get me in until Januaray 13th. Almost a month away :icon_sad:

So a long day to say the least.

Mary

Hun, you may have to do what doc thinks is best. BUT before asking him or after finding out what needs to be done, ( if that has to be done) ask him what will happen if i dont want to do that?, or if need be maybe get a second opinion. and hell i know about teh long med waits,  to me it seems to be a taste of socialised medicine lol. do you have insurance now?, cause if need be there is the ER. anyhoo im going to contact the local pull-a-part and see if i can locate a top for your car. they price them for less than 100 so if i can locate one, i get it to you somehow
Title: Re: I WANNA RIDE :(
Post by: Toogoofy317 on December 20, 2008, 03:09:01 AM
Yeah, I've got WellCare which is an insurance plan through medicare. I guess this abdominal pain center is supposed to be like a second opinion. So we will see.

But, ohmygoodness I feel like krap tonight. I'm having some nasty palpitations and racing heart. I feel abit anxious and can't sleep for the life of me. Through in the other issues I'm having right now and it just SUCKS. At this point I probably would head off to the ER but I have work on Sunday and I can't miss anymore work. Unfortunately, I think these new symptoms may be side effect of the new antibiotic I just started Levaquin. My bp is going a little wacky too. At my first doc appointment at 0945 my bp 86/50 I run low but my next appointment at 1100 was 120/80. Just a little odd to have a 34 point jump in a little over an hour??!?!?

These health issues are driving me nuts!

Glad you got some wheels! You are a definately a nice guy. I haven't even gotten to the point to look for tops much less affording one! Don't put yourself out though. I will make it through this rough spot. I always have and always will at least with God's help and good friends!

if top is black, ( im assuming it is) obtain some waterproof canvas, and some contact cemet, makes for a nifty patch and not so ghetto looking the top on my rx7 is weird has a removable hard section, when retracted gotta wait until its near vertical, tehn hit the release forward half folds down, nd continuing retracting, untll all teh way down

Eh, I had my stuff in storage for five years before I got my own place again. Most of it did quite well!

Well, didn't lose my job they called me Monday and I went in on Tuesday and worked seven hours. Holy Moly I'm sore first time in a long time I was a park walker. Think I walked Universal Studios about fifteen times. I'm exhausted and I feel as if I've been hit by a mack truck! But, I will survive! Don't work again until Sunday a whopping four hour shift! Travel time to an fro takes about a third of the time I'm working. I mean six hours I can see but four hours of babysitting the pyro! UGH! Then a friend of mine is begging me to take her six hour shift from 2100-0300 on New Year's Eve! Uhm yeah right!

Oh well,

Mary

I'm alive if that's what you're asking. Don't know how much further I'm going thatn that! So, on Thursday had a pelvic ultrasound they said all was clear. On Saturday night had a CT scan and said I have an Ovarian Cyst :dunno_white: Do these docs even know what the hell they are doing? Was given lots of fluid and potassium and given the choice to be admitted and let them prod or go home. Was practically ripping the needle out of the port which worked wonderfully Only good thing I can add even took the CT dye well! Was nice only getting one quick poke in the chest. Boy that didn't sound right!

Gotta stop in at the primary in the morning and pray they are open cause I was supposed to follow up by then from the ER!

OH OH OH by the way! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE CARD. Was it a survivor of the car accident 'cause it shore looked that way :D It really brightened my day! Sorry it took so long for me to pick it up but it was awesome!

I really hope things are getting better. I'm so sick of being sick!

As far as the postal service goes I am so pissed off at them. I went there on Monday to try and send some gifts to my friends up in Boston. Was told that if I spent $28 bucks it would make it there on Friday. I was like uhm isn't this express that is like four to five days away! Well, that is the best we can do cause we don't deliver on Christmas which I'm like 96% sure they did last year. With the illness I just couldn't get in sooner anyway. So, I asked them how much priority is and he said $10.48 and when will it get there. Friday he said? What ?!?!? But you were going to charge me $28 for express for the same day! He got real red and short with me from then on out. What is up with everyone trying to scam the consumer. I guess they think we are all that stupid! But, I'm really bummed my friends won't get it until after Christmas. I know they will understand the circumstances but still!

I hope things are better for you and I see you got a nice red mini van now go run some people over!

oh yeah I'm real happy about the Gstwin sticker can't wait to put it on my bike! How much horse power you think it will add?!?!? 10 or 15 bhp!

of course ill still be your friend   ;), see if all you have is bad luck, it can only get better right  :thumb: and that van i gotta put it up on a lift and change the o2 sensor out on it. im getting a buzz off of gas fumes, it went out. ( it is  after all a used vehicle ) so  the lot said call us ill open up tomorrow and you can use the lift. im like naah, ill wait until the day after christmas, and do it then, i can get by by cracking the front window, and the rear one, and there is no problem, som im good for now. im about the easiest person to get along wiht, i try to look out for everyone else before looking out for myself

Which you need to be looking out for yourself too! I"m still concerned about you still having pain this long after the wreck. You really should get a follow up exam. How is the back doing. If you herniated a disc or something you can have all kind of muscle issues with it. After my wreck I got pins and needles in the left half of my left foot. Didn't relate it to wreck cause it happened days afterwards. Apparently back swelled put pressure on nerves and viola problems! Hope that is not what is happening to ya but you gotta be careful! Wrecks that seem small can cause big damage and wrecks that seem big do nothing. Ex. Rolled my truck in 2000 walked away from it. Minor fender bender in 07 still paying for it with joint and muscle damage!

I would guess with the apprehension that you are having the psych may prescribe xanax or maybe even ativan. It will at least chill you out enough to get through the ordeal. Don't know how good would be for driving though. Will they even see you if they find out your injuries are auto related?

Think I'm gonna take the bike out tomorrow on the doctor rounds. Supposed to be clear, sunny, and like 77! If I can get it off the center stand! I'm so stinking weak still. My shoulder is still giving me issues esp pushing and pulling stuff! But, I wanna ride soooo bad!

climb on bike, like youre riding, place legs forward of pegs on ground, and wiht rocking action use body weight/hips to roll bike off stand. and the health dept will see me no matter what. ill jus have to say thisisin regards to an auto accident. they already know ive got no primary care doc nothing like that, and for the most part am self insured. the wonderfull life of a certain political group who decided a diabetic doesnt qualify for insurance.while a woman wiht 4 kids by 4 different fathers is, lol anyhoo thats another story /thread. im not going to milk the cash cow, ie im not trying to run her isurance dry. or her for that matter. im jus trying to be fair. so that is why im going to use the health dept. and such. will still have the documentation for anyhting which may arise or may not . anyhoo have fun riding. hell i wish i was htere lol. i miss riding. alot :icon_confused: , one day, one day i shall again

Hey man, you make it down here and I will let you take my beloved "flck" out on a ride!

Yeah, I was turned down for medicaid when being evaluated for a heart transplant. But, they told me if i had a kid then I would be approved for medicaid?!?!?!? So yeah, let's bring a kid into the world I can't care for and if I did try to have one it would probably kill me. Now that's how we solve a problem in Fl! Even the health department turned me down! And not one cardiologist would touch me much less check my defibrillator!

Yeah,

Our system is broken. It doesn't seem like the one's who really need the help can get it. I'm not banging anybody with AIDS or Cancer but if you get one of those diseases and it seems like they fall over backwards to try and help you!

When I worked for Orlando Regional I was still waiting for the insurance to kick in and got a huge bill at MY hospital. I had a pulmonary embolism while working waited four hours in my own ER they finally took me back when I crashed o2 was 83% and bp 60/20 I ended up in the trauma bay and three weeks in hospital. So, I went to the financial aid specialist there and they said they would be glad to help me. She then looked at me and said "you work here?" "yeah, but I have no insurance and meet the financial eligibility". "Well, we don't help those that are employed here!" What?!?!? you mean you will take care of complete strangers but when it comes to one of your own that meets all of the requirements you turn your back on them. The only thing I could figure out is because they know they will get your money 'cause they would deduct $50 every paycheck! Who cares if you can't eat or afford your prescriptions as long as the hospital get's there's. They wouldn't even give me the "cash" discount because I was paying weekly!  :2guns:

I'm do disillusioned with our health care that I don't believe it can ever be fixed in my lifetime. Honestly, I don't think anyone in power even wants too! I mean it is not their problem. All of the represenative and senators get SWEET health care packages and if I'm not mistaken they get it for free and for life! Sooo, if you got that insurance what is wrong? I like to use the analogy of the doctor who prescribes a nasty procedure and they say this won't hurt a bit. How the hell do you know? Have you had it done to you? I think all doctor's should have to experience some of the tests that they put their patients through. Nothing really invasive but maybe they should try out the prep for a colonoscopy! Drink the Ct scan krap or have to sit for hours on end in a room for a ten minute visit where they learn absolutly nothing and have to pay a huge amount of money for it. My doctor this past weekend prescribed a horrible med (levaquin) that caused palpitations, severe vomitting, stomach pain, fever, mood swings. I wonder if he would still prescribe it if he had to take it for an infection!

Sorry I'm ranting.

UGH, the hits just keep on coming. I went to my primary physician today because I was feeling cruddy with a sore throat and congestion. I have a nasty case of bronchitis and not allowed to work for the next four days! When is this krap gonna end. I just wanna feel good so I can safely hop on the bike and have some fun! Can't even take a stinkin decongestant because of my lousy heart! And woohoo more antibiotics to run me down as if I'm not already.

I need a vacation from being sick

I would say if it werent for the sore throat, jalapeno or habanero peppers work wonders, so does hard liquor as well
