Title: How do I "blow test" carbs?...(and no porn/drug gags please!!)
Post by: chrishiggs on December 15, 2008, 10:46:25 AM
Hi folks,

This relates to my previous post...

Anyway, I'm just wondering how to test if the float needles are shutting off fuel like they're supposed to and I saw mention of a carb "blow test" in some previous posts. My guess is you turn carbs upside down and blow through fuel intake t-piece. Can anyone tell me if this is right? Thanks in advance! :thumb:

Yes invert it and blow into intake. You can also sit it under the bike, connect fuel line and put in prime and hold floats closed ... though blow works just fine. Just the taste. I use a new hose ...
Cool.

Thanks for that Buddha. I'm hoping this could all just be a shot petcock diaphragm. What do you think Though I can't figure out why the float height is spot on and the bike runs fine one day then it's hydrolocked with an airbox full of gas the next! Just hope I've not bent a rod trying to start it... A wrecked motor through carb flooding = 1 major bummer!!
Thanks again.
