G'day Madbones,

Congrats on the 2 new beasties !
I bought my K8 GS500F (black) on Oct 1 2008...still as new as the first day I received it.... beautiful bikes, the GS500F !
Enjoy cruising with your wife and safe happy riding.

Nickers777

PS - Where in Melbourne ? I'm from Templestowe, but bike is garaged in Epping . If I see 2 GS's side by side, black & blue, I'll say G'day to you both :)

Beautifull bikes mate.  :thumb:

Things I would consider if I was you.

1. Remove the safety stickers once you've read them. Hair dryer + wax and grease remover
http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=42087.0

2. Fenderectomy (chop the rear fender)
http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=34395.0

3.Get stiffer Front Springs. Because its a new bike you can just pull out the old springs and put in some new ones. No need to change the fork oil.

4. Upgrade the front headlight globe

Thanks for those links galahs,
Yep as soon as i got the bike i did a chop of the mudguard just under the indicators. It makes a big difference. My wifes is still stock standard as were waiting on some lowering links and bar raisers ( bar backs ) to be delivered.

But overall we enjoying the new bikes every chance we get.

Hey Galahs,
What range in klms do you get from a tank of juice and also if you know the reserve range. I was out yesterday and felt the bike splutter so i reached down and flicked to reserve and headed to the nearest servo. Just so i can reset the trip and have an idea of range.

About 350km before needing reserve. I usually try to fill up once I reach 300kms.

Never used reserve for more than a few kms.

G'day Bob,
Welcome mate   :thumb:   Im new around here myself and only just got into road bikes along with my wife after being licenced for 28 years. Bit of a spring chicken compared to an experienced old hand like yourself.

Its a great place and a wealth of information.

Once again welcome.
