i have failed my mt today on front fork spring weakened and in need of replacement so my question is will forks from a 2002 bike fit my 1993 modle
There both 37mm forks , so they will just slide in
WTF is "front fork spring weakened"
the stock springs are oh my goodnesse new(SH!T)
you probably are low on fork oil and
buy aftermarket springs?????
who you kiddin? the stock fork springs are soft as the springs in a matress. heavier fork oil and a set of stiffer springs are the solution.
I really hate the potty language translator
lets see what we get when....

Never ever ever ever ever ever EVER heard of a bike failing an MOT on a "weak fork spring". How do they come to the conclusion its weak without testing it and comparing it to one they know is good?Have the testers up your way all got x-ray specs or something because they are not allowed to dismantle anything during the test :D
Ok there is a problem there but more likely its A) a broken spring...rare but does happen or B) no, or not enough oil in the tubes. I would check for both before going to the expense of replacing the whole fork leg.
see here.... http://www.ukmot.com/bike_2-3.asp#Text_top
Allright Kenny? :thumb:
Ian,
I'm good
broke, but what is new......
the guy at the mot test centre says that if i was to load the front suspension up it would bottom out because the springs are serviorly weakened ive see a set of forks on ebay for £45 and i have dealt with the seller before it may benafit me just to replace them whatya think
Oh yea Mot ... wink wink ... an all new employment+traffic fine generating scam ... like our "state inspection". I see crap with pogo shocks and 1 headlight in high beam on our roads ... all the time.
BTW any chance the seller of the forks is doing your "mot" ???
You can stuff a 2 inch long PVC pipe in the fork and it will stiffen it up. Better than the forks you'd buy prolly.
And no I didn't do the language converter BS.
Cool.
Buddha.

I think you should follow the advice that several people have given you and check the oil levels in each tube first.
If you replace them with stock forks, he may fail them too....the GS frontend in notoriously soft. I'd drop in some progressive springs w/ new oil.
