Title: Taillight Mod
Post by: vorBH on January 04, 2009, 07:45:12 PM
I want to understand the taillight assembly and electric system (wiring) to it

I don't understand because some other taillights have just loose wires
I am looking at getting other taillights.

1. Would this work, electrically speaking: http://cgi.ebay.ca/Kawasaki-Tail-Light-03-06-Z1000-03-04-ZX6R-ZX6RR-636_W0QQitemZ230317401719QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item230317401719&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A2|39%3A1|240%3A1318

2. Would this work, electrically speaking: http://cgi.ebay.ca/NEW-Custom-LED-Light-Brake-Rear-Tail-GSXR-R1-Trike-TL19_W0QQitemZ120356845018QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotorcycles_Parts_Accessories?hash=item120356845018&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A2|39%3A1|240%3A1318

3. An F4i taillight? http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=370089701701    has 2 connectors in the back, dont think this will work.

What do you guys think? I want a rocket type taillight with similar dimensions to stock 07 GS500F taillight

You could always do this:

These pictures are of my bike before it was mine... Turns out the R1 taillight actually has a compatible connector on it, but the length from where the stock wiring harness ends isn't quite enough. All it took was extending a few wires, which is about as easy as you could hope for...

Well, with a bit of effort I'm sure you could get anything to work....

That Ray Gun look of the R1 tail light is pretty cool. Might have to give that a try one day.

You could make it work. There is some chance the connector will just match, but if it doesn't just cut the old one off your old tail light and solder it on to the new tail light. Just pay attention to polarity, the led's won't work if you hook them up backwards...
