Title: New VA riders thread or close to....
Post by: Susuki_Jah on January 10, 2009, 02:06:05 PM
I saw some older VA riders threads but they have not been posted to in a while so I decided to post a new topic.

who is up for some riding around the VA and outlining areas ?

I am located in Richmond VA but I am in hampton once a month for Guard duty as well.

anyone interested in meeting up in Richmond VA for a cook out and a day of riding? I am offering up my place for a cook out. I live in the heart of Richmond downtown with a decent size back yard. or we could set up a meet off of skyline drive in any one of the camp sites and enjoy a weekend of mountian riding when it gets warmer.

now would be a good time to start planning something like this.

I'm in Alexandria, VA and I'm always interested in a good weekend ride.  Especially when the weather starts to turn in a couple of months.  Skyline drive is always a blast.  I would be down for that.

I'm also in Richmond.  Surprisingly, this city has some nice areas to ride.  Soon as the weather warms up, lets round up the Richmond Va riders and anyone within the surrounding areas.

sounds good guys, I am going to be in texas for 2 months but after april im back so we can set something up and if we dont do a camping trip ride then I am offering my house up for a cookout/meet and a wrenching party. I should have enough tools and air tools to work some real mods if we wanted to set something up like that. if we do it in late june/july I will have my gf from england with me :) that would love to tag along.

I'm in Chantilly (northern va).  haven't gotten my gs back from my friend, but should have it in a few months.  Still have another bike i can ride though.

Still piecing mine together - valves are a mess, but when I'm done, I'm game.

tentative plan is to either:

1) head up north and meet at the starbuck's on 108 east of 97 in olney around 9:30 or 10:00 and then shoot up 97 towards westminster, then up to hanover, across to gettysburg for lunch, then down to catoctin and then back home.

or

2) meet up at the vienna metro parking lot.  head out 66 until we can get off on 15/29 and make our way south to charlottesville and then 33 to skyline drive, back to 66 or 211.  skyline drive is $8 or $10 probably.

if i forget to post again, call my cell phone friday evening.

DEPART vienna metro at 10am, so try and be there by 9:50 or so (unless
you guys want to go earlier which is fine with me).

west on 66 to front royal (55 miles of boring highway).  south through
george washington national forest.  lunch in new market.  south on 340
to 33.  east on 33 to skyline drive.  all the way up skyline drive
back to front royal.  255 miles, 5.5 hours round trip + stops for lunch and gas
and speeding tickets.

Just took a fresh hammering with work, so I may not be able to make it.  Besides, 9:50 am has me leaving at 8 am or so ... what's with that?
