Title: Parting: 1989 GS500
Post by: malcman on January 11, 2009, 03:37:39 PM
Hey, I picked up a parts bike and I'm selling off all the parts I don't need to try and recoup some of my money. For now I would like to keep shipping within Canada, and would prefer to send parts on the bus(this is cheaper for the buyer and easier for me since I'm in school and the post office is usually closed before I'm done)
The bike is a 1989 and the parts I am keeping are:
carbs
locks(ignition, tank, seat latch)
wiring harness with all relays, regulators, etc.
Engine

I don't have pictures of the parts yet as I'm running on a tight schedule but if there is something you are interested in please let me know and I will try my best to get a picture and price as soon as possible. Parts are located in Saint John, NB. I understand I have a low post count which may affect the sales a bit but I have sold hundreds of 4 wheeler/car parts in the past and have yet to have a complaint. Anyhoo any questions feel free to send me a PM or you can catch me on msn messenger andmalcolm@hotmail.com.

Thanks,
Andrew

How's the clutch perch look and do you have the mirror that goes in that perch?

Hey, from what I remember the perch was good but I will double check tomorrow. The bike came with no mirrors unfortunately.

is the tank in good shape? rust, dents?  how much do you want for it with shipping to 33812?
Title: Re: Parting: 1989 GS500

I will reply to everyone tonight with pictures of parts. The tank has a considerable dent on the left hand side not shown in the pictures. The inside doesn't look too bad though. It may take a few days for me to get shipping quotes as I'm in school till 4:30 daily but I will do my best to get quotes for you all.

Hey Andrew-

What kind of shape are the guages and headlight in? If they are not banged up and just need a good cleaning, give me a price you'll ship to Nevada, 89503.

If headlight and assembly are still available how much to ship to 32960? Thanks.

All prices listed are in USD, I think they seem reasonable but if not let me know :)

loki7714, perch looks ok but has minor rash on the top. Threads for mirror are fine but I'd take 5$ plus shipping because of the rash

Ohgood, cilp on's are in good condition, right side(throttle) bar has minor bend, could be fixed with either a tiny bit of heat or a vice. I'd like 65$ plus shipping for those without ignition switch and also the carbon fiber junk thats on them should peel off no problem. The bend is down as well so the mounting bracket was not damaged as it may have been if it were bent front or back.

tripleb, the tank is pretty fubard, I'd feel guilty selling it lol

Train, gauge cluster is quite damaged, the gauges themselves look ok but the outter casings have bad damage. Headlight surround looks out of round, glass is perfectly in tact with no scratchs or cracks. Would make for an excellent spare for the glass and rear shell. I'd take 20$ plus shipping for both headlight and cluster

hotrodstud77, front rotor looks good, rear rotor is toast, front forks look brand new and show no signs of leaks, bends or scratchs, rear tire has plenty of tread(was told it was new) and front tire doesn't look bad at all. The tires show no odd signs of wear(scalloping, etc) and rims look straight as an arrow with no rash on the lips and from what I saw 1 very minor scratch on the polished section. for front forks and front/rear rims I'd like to get around 300$ for them plus shipping. Shipping on the bus probably wouldn't be too crazy either but if you were interested in all the parts let me know and I'm sure we could work something out.

jhoffy8 see as posted for Train

BTW I apologize for the dirty parts, its been about -15 here every day the past 2 weeks and I don't want everything to freeze if i wash them lol.

also I would prefer all payments to be made through paypal, this makes it easier to keep track of who's paid what and when, etc.

Everything pictured with the clip on's (minus clutch perch and ignition lock) is included. You are #1 for getting them, if you could hold off payment until the weekend and I am able to get you a shipping quote. (may be sooner if I can get out of class early) but they will be held for you until I get the shipping quote.

Hey, I am unsure if the switchs work so I would rather keep them for the time being. Once I get my bike back together I am going to test out all the electrical components and list them for sale once I know 100% that they work properly.
