LOG:
- Carbon fiber colour tank pad, installed GSXR front pegs, removed some body decals, installed GS500 Puig Windscreen, covered rearsets with carbon fiber sticker/decal, applied one stripe of rimstripe sticker to test it out, complete fender elimination (need to rebuild storage space), Carbon Fiber Yoshi TRS Slip-On Muffler, Gixxer decals on both sides of the fairings, flushmount turn signals for front and rear ($35 cash for 2 sets at motorcycle show, steall!!)...covered the rear ones in carbon fiber sticker
To do: Taillight LED's instead of bulbs (still debating), Clear lens taillight (looking for one), GSXR rear shock, Drag handlebars OR 89 clipons, hyperwhite indicator light, headlight bulb upgrade to a cool blue/xenon colour
Storage compartment: produced a rough copy blueprint for storage compartment..design...looks like more work than imagined, forecasting some slight complications in installation of the new compartment...but will not be impossible....... EXECUTED (yes executed) necessary measurements on the storage space on the bike, generated possible ideas..the compartment will definitely be larger, able to hold more items and keep those items safely locked in (about 2 inches deep floor and rear rises with shape of tail)

Looks like a replica Gixxer...I love how its coming along...and what I love even more is that they are simple and inexpensive mods (except for the exhaust $350 cdn)....More pics to keep coming...and hopefully I get a better camera as well!! Anyone selling a digital camera for cheap?
I do like the gsxr pegs.
But, why the Gixxer stickers? :dunno_white: It's not one and will never be. I mean to me it would be like putting the new Challenger badges on my Neon (well don't own it anymore but you get the idea).
Not trying to dis you by any means. Just don't get it!
Keep moding!
Mary
Lol...interesting, thats the first turndown for the gixxer stickers...but thats cool.....well 1. I didn't want to go through the trouble of getting custom GS500F decals and 2. the Gixxer stickers just look sporty and all, just wanted to slap them on, and suddenly the bike looked soooo much better
Appreciate the feedback
How did ya do the pegs. I know on the Wiki there is some instructions but did you have to do grinding etc? Also, do they vibrate more than stock?
I'm still figuring out exactly how I am going to dress up mine since it had been knocked over and killed the stock decals. I think the skull sends out the wrong impression esp. when I rid to church. On the other side is a dragon but it is down too low to cover up some scratches.
Mary
QuoteI think the skull sends out the wrong impression esp. when I rid to church.
LOL, yea seriously
Yup I did the GSXR pegs just like how it was explained in the Wiki. A REALLY easy mod, and looks nicer. Yes I had to grind off some metal (tells you where to grind in the wiki)....just be careful and be accurate....Otherwise, grind and bolt-on (and get 4 (3/16) washers [2 for each side]..on each side of the peg inside its mounting bracket)
I bought the bike in November stock, rode for 1.5 weeks and put it away for winter...so I wouldn't know how they are when riding yet.
I can't remember where I saw pics of your bike, I liked the blue, the skulls etc not so much...if you want to take them off here's a good idea for big decals/paint job:
Still need to buy: Kat or GSXR Rear shock, headlight bulb upgrade and position indicator bulb (need hyperwhite)
Bought need to install/test-out: Drag 7/8" handlebar, new fabricated storage compartment (pending completion)
Then would most probably be finished modding the bike.

YOU ARE NEVER FINISHED MODDING THE BIKE! :2guns: :thumb:
Lol true, but I want to save money, keep it simple as well.
But maybe internal mods/mechanical would continue with usage.

The new trunk compartment, worked on it today more, 75% completed....fitted, holes are screwed....need to install alum. support plate underneath it...and underneath it all plastic sheet for fender..pics to come
K done a lot of stuff, but no pics yet
- new storage compartment is completed, I'm really glad it turned out well, very sturdy and well fit....pics to come
- in addition to that, this required a complete fender elimination....looks beautiful, all cleaned up....even that part from the stock trunk space that sticks out from the bottom...pics to come :)
-I've manually fabricated a cell-phone holder specifically for my phone to be mounted on the bike..under the windscreen area...pics to come
The TRS carbon fiber exhaust....I know its not comparable to a Ducati sound...but it reminds me of a deep Ducati sounds I heard once form a Ducati at a traffic intersection, so niicee :woohoo: ....I will do a recording and post to youtube for those trying to decide on a exhaust (I know for sure I like it WAY better than the stock lawn mower exhaust sound lol)
- 4weld bars and Kat 600 or 750 shock are left for upgrades currently
pppppics to come, couple of days!
- also turned on the bike yesterday and rode behind my house for 5minutes in 3 degress Celsius....FINALLY after ~4months...but then it started snowing :embarassed:
Glad your bike is coming along. I'm leaving the skull on for now because I don't like it without anything on it. One of the guys at work does Airbrush work on Moto's when my tax check comes in after the car is fixed I'm going to see if he can do a custom dragon on the right side but can't decide what I want on the left yet.
I'm so afraid to do anything internal with my bike because I paid for a warranty and I'm not sure what I can and can't do.
Here are a couple of things I'd like to do if anyone could tell me if this would void the warranty. I still have 3 1/2 years on the warranty!
1. exhaust and lunch box. will rejetting myself hurt the warranty?
2. progressive springs or the kat fe swap
thanks all
Mary
bike is looking good but i do agree that the gsxr stickers are a tad naff, but my question is why the hell would you want a mobile phone holder on your bike you have them on you they are called pockets :dunno_white:
Quote1. exhaust and lunch box. will rejetting myself hurt the warranty?

I hope someone knows the answer to that cuz I sure don't, sorry....but I am sure exhaust upgrades are fine...I say call the bike dealership or a random bike dealership and shoot them the questions

My phone is touch screen HTC...it's a GPS unit as well...so it's going to be really convenient having it under my eyes in the dash area there (plus I get txt msgs and calls, so even if I cant pickup I can see whats going on, as opposed to my pocket) I plan to get a ear-clip-on bluetooth as well, so I can easily answer calls via bluetooth while riding....my bike is my main transportation and I am on it alot :woohoo:...I wish I had the pics now to show you...early next week I should have some of the phone holder and storage compartment and other small things :)
take a look at the gsf logo's i made feel free to use my design but maybe a bit of credit  :icon_mrgreen: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=47229.0
Hmm nice work, but I don't really like them....I think cafeboy got a custom GS500F decal made....looks amazing....but actually you can buy the decals from dealership now too

i was wonderin' the same thing. guess it is more fun to build you
r own gixxer than to go buy one (new or used). :thumb:
i look fwd to meetin' u and seein' the finished product @ the GS500 meet!
I'm getting the pegs finally who hoo. And to top it off they will come preground for the "F" and cheaper than ebay. Only on GSTWIN!
Oh by the way. Were you still needing a digital camera? I have a couple of year old Kodak that I could probably part with for a reasonable price! It works perfect I just got a smaller higher megapixel one.
Keep on modding!

Nope not me. NEWGS500F had them made.
I just make the seat cowls and may have a few more tricks up my sleeve. ( Stay tuned to find out soon) :whisper:

Hey, You got a prob with the Neons
I love my little windup car. :tongue2:
Heres final pics (borrowed a camera from my parents!! :flipoff: lol, but still need to buy a digi cam: (still need to add an extended mudguard to protect rear shocks area, change handlebars to 4welds Budda bars, shorter dogbones to raise the rear end, blue rimstripes, computer for speed milage etc..and put on the new tires)

I really like how it looks. WAY better than stock, they should alll have decals like GSXR or GS500F decal, which they do do now on the new ones.
The Yoshi slip-on is sweeeet, silencer is out and is loud and deeep sound, just perfect, everyone whos heard it loaves it.
Best part is driving through tunnels and dropping to 2nd gear and punching it....the bike echoing and everything AMAZING......before I ever bought a bike heard someone else on a motocycle driving througha tunnel on sportbike with mod exhaust and was phenomenal......try it!!!! Sounds amazing!
Damn! That looks pretty sexy! Great job... the best part is that you did it to look like it came that way and not like someone just put a bunch of crap on a previously nice bike!
Awesome! :icon_mrgreen:
Thanks alot man, appreciate it! :)
all good, great, very nice!! except for those decals :dunno_white: sorry man but I am being honest. They totally do not fit. why don't you get the stickers from newer GS500 model? they look good too! or get something customized if you don't like stockers :thumb:
cheers,
and please no hard feeling cause I really like what you have done in overall!!
No problem....I actually think they sink in the whole appearance fine...others may see it differently...but I really like how it turned out
Thanks!
Agree with the GSXR Stickers.....
I painted my GSXES550 some years ago and had a mate that was good with an air brush. He did all the suzuki emblems (tank etc) and made custom suzuki lettering that looked awesome.
Air brushing is the way to go, looks much better than stickers and is unique to the bike.
Bike looks great :thumb:
Yea all thats too much work lol, I love working on it but not that hardcore for the decals etc..
Thanks!
looking good their!!! im surprise that you didnt cut the luggage rail off. That will make the rear end look even cleaner :)
I was considering it after reading about that mod here on the forums. BUT, I actually use the luggage rails!! lol It's my everyday car and I usually carry stuff in the day, not at night leisure riding though.
But would definitely look cleaner. If I took them off, where else can you hook something on there to instead of the luggage rails? Wouldn't want to strain the plastics...
Looks good- Nice Exhaust and Windscreen ;)
Been out riding much?
Lou
Ps picking up the GSX650f this weekend- can't wait
Haha, a kind man named Lou sold me the exhaust and windscreen, thanks Lou I really love the exhaust noise (I removed the silencer) and the effects of the windscreen
Oh thats awesome! Congrats on the 650! You know thats good timing, because the weather is going to pickup here in Toronto after this weekend.
I've been riding since the beginning of March in appropriate times, done about 750km of riding, nothing minor and yet not major.....the 500 is a great bike.....I can't even literally start to imagine what an R1 is like....which is definitly something I want in couple years time, or R6
Can't wait till the good weather tho....hope to see you and the 650 at the GS500 meet!!
Great work! I love everything you've done except the gixxer stickers. WHAT A LIE! :nono:
And I hope for your sake you don't raise the back. All it'll do is ruin the great handling you now have.
What GS meet? Is there one locally this summer? If so, I'm there!
The Gixxer stickers is where its at!!
Yea man, GS500 meet is sometime coming up...http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=45408.0
I'm also in Toronto we need to meet up one day for a coffee. I would really like to hear what the exhaust sounds like. The rear end and exhaust looks spectacular.
You HAVE to kill the GSXR sticker it just does not work. I would also reconsider the flush mounts also.
Hey
Yea for sure, just a little busy in school now.
Thanks for the input...I really like the GSXR stickers and the flushmounts though, so I think they'll be staying...
Looks a lot like the way I got mine set up.
Nice bike. I too am not a fan of the Gixxer stickers but I really can't say anything. I have stickers plastered all over mine. :D
Put blue rimstripes on it about 3 months ago
dude i gotta say this man. I love ur bike. how many mileage do u have on it? what is the market value of this bike?
Looks good. Maybe you should look at a rear hugger to fix your non exsistant rear mudguard problem
it has about 12000km on it, runs like a beauty....especially rhe decals, they added about 6hp
I would say it is worth approximately $4000-$4300. An 07, thats what they are running for approx. on KIJIJI.
QuoteLooks good. Maybe you should look at a rear hugger to fix your non exsistant rear mudguard problem
Yea sure that would be a good idea, where can I get one?
how is the carbon decals holding up? I did mine on the gauge plate and heel guards and after about four months started peeling off. :icon_sad:
haven't forgot about the camera. Got surgery coming up very soon and my defibrillator battery is starting to die so been very busy.
mary
They are perfect, nothing wrong at all, been the same since day I puttem on. I put them on the fairing of course, so theres no reason for them to peel unless I wash them hard while washing the bike..
Hey no problem, take care of yourself of course, all the best
Can you post a pic with the seat off, so we can see your bigger storage compartment, also can you see it at all from the outside? i mean besides getting down to look under.
