Hi guys first post on the the forums for me, ive had a 07 gs500f since april 08 and have been using forums for info since then although ive only just signed up recently, anywho after the bike fell over and an insurance claim that went my way im getting a yoshi tri-oval stainless slip-on at no extra cost :) , the pipe is being fitted tomorrow but im concerned that it will be running too lean, i have ordered a carb adjusting kit but im not going to be able to fiddle around with it till next weekend. The bike is my only way of transport and im worried that i may do damage to the engine if i use it everyday (to and from work), so if anyone knows if it would be ok to ride, and maybe only at lower revs? i only travel around 10 min each way to work so maybe that would not be enougth time for anything to get to hot? any input would be great.
I ran my 2005 GS500F with a full jardine exhaust for a week without a rejet and it ran fine.

you can find out just how lean the engine is by running the pipe for 30 minutes (normal riding) and then pull the plugs when you get home. compare the plugs to rich/lean pictures from your manual or the 'net.
since you didn't mention a K&N filter or other AIR filter change, you'll be fine. don't know how the bikes are jetted for non-us models myself, so i'd consider pulling the plugs for a 'read' a good idea.

You'll be fine adding a full system may lean out but a slipon won't do much unless you add an after market airfilter than you'll need to rejet. I ran mine with a slipon and no rejet for at least three mopnths with no issues.
Thanks for the reply's guys, just got my bike back from the shop, turns out i got a carben fiber slip-on, not complaining though, looks pretty nice, only thing is when i got home there was smoke coming out of the back of the exaust, im not sure if it was just stuff in side the new pipe burning or if the engine was overheating, (im quite paraniod bout my baby :( ) , i cant ring the bike shop back because their closed, anyone know what this is?
I also noticed the bike sputering a bit when i rolled of the throttle in the lower rev range, i believe thats a sign of a lean mixture?
I was thinking, as a tempuary fix could i possibly tape up part of the air intakes to make the mixture richer? and how much would i tape up?
mm and yeah, its quite hot here at the moment :o
My bike splutters a bit on de-acceleration. It happens on free flowing systems. Yeah it may be a touch lean buut I wouldn't be too worried.
And yep, the smoke is most likely the oils in the exhaust system being burnt off.
aye m8 hteyre lean from teh factory, a VERY slight rejet would helpa bit. but its in essence okay as is. wiht a very light rejet, be even bette. but read the plugs first. and if you desire to rejet, ask teh buddha ( admin here) and see if he'll ship to australia. im sure he would. or he may tell you what sizes to get. hes fairly good on that . anyhoo welcome aboard. , or as i say welcome to zee Nuthaus
