Swingarm width not withstanding. Someone is looking to do the same thing I've done to my 750 with their GS and I'm trying to confirm which ones are compatible.
98+ are the same size bearing with a 1" wider rear wheel. 97 and earler probably fit, but still have the narrower 3.5" rim like the GS if I'm not mistaken.
89-97 Kat 600/750 front and rear wheels are the same as the GS. The rear rotor of the same years is the same as well.
Thanks guys...he's looking for a 4" + wheel so I've directed him to the B600 wheel. The Bandit shares the exact same bearing dimensions as his GS1000L so he'll have a better start, too.
B600 wheel may be 4" but its not AKAIK direct swap with GS. B400 yea. But then again its going in a GS1000.
I suspect B600 has a caliper that is under the disk among other things.
Cool.
Buddha.
Yeah the B6 has the under-mounted caliper.
The GS500 reference is just because I used GS500 wheels...so pretty much anything that should fit the GS500 should fit the old GS1000 with similar effort. I don't think he's looking for a direct swap...his biggest goal is just to be able to run radials.
nice thing about the B-6 rear.....4.5 x 17
and if the rear axle is same diameter......sweet
what is the widest tire that will fit in a GS1000 swingarm?
160 should fit???? :dunno_white:
also have him/her look for 88-89 GSXR 750 rear wheel
and also the RF600 rear
to help broaden the search
i think i still might have an 88 GSXR rear... never mind it was already converted to gs....i think
He saw my post and first thing he looked for was GSXR and GS500 stuff...the GSXR wheels are 18", though, in some years, but very few could be found. I hadn't thought about the RF, though...I'll forward that.
I think a 160mm tire should fit in the swingarm pretty well. I could run a 170 if I notched my swingarm just a hair and offset the shaZam! out of my countershaft sprocket haha...the 1000 has a slightly wider arm so I think it shouldn't be an issue.
the 1100 had 18
750 had a 17
