Title: how do you remove the caps blocking the "pilot screws"

 yea there's these brass looking things with tiny holes in them, i can't figure out how to remove them

YOu have to take a 1/8th drill and drill out the center of the plug. When i did mine, one plug actually caught the drill and spun itself out very easily, the other one I had to go from 1/8th up to the next size and then it caught the larger drill and pulled out.

Don't plunge too deep, and use a Drill Press if you have one available... you don't want to F up the surrounding metal OR the screw under the cap.

or drill it for 1/8" and thread a self taping screw into and then "yoink" it out of there

Yea any one this can work. It can also shear off the whole damn hole wall. Sorry dont have a 100% method. Drilling with a leftie bit is all I'd add but I have miscued a good few, hit the screw or even chipped off the wall on ocassion. Your good/bad fortune.
