Ok the concept is that everyone has a part or two laying about that they don't need...and most don't want...so I thought I'd put something together so that it can be easily viewed. All the parts need to be free for pickup/shipping...this is not a "for sale" list, though tips to the "giver" are encouraged.. Anyone who wants to contribute needs to email me (GS500 Junkyard as subject) at makenzie71@gmail.com using the following form filled out to completion.

http://kaleesphotography.com/Junkyard will be the parent list if you would like to see other bikes available.
I love the idea since its so hard to find parts sometimes for the gs500. Like i have a stock chain i took off needs a good cleaning and a master link but other then that it only has 8k miles on it if someone wanted to pay the shipping on it they could have it.
Tremendous idea! I've benefitted from others generousity here and like to pass it along.

great idea! I believe I have some parts I can add, I will hav eto make it to my storage space tomorrow to take a look.
looking forward to seeing some stuff to throw out there...I do this on a few other forums...been doing it for a while with some but have been busy and unable to keep up. I'm hoping to be able to keep this one updated properly.
Is the CLEAR taillight lens for an 07 GS500F available?
rather than a manually maintained list via text file maybe I could look into some free sorta of "internal ebay" software. People would register post what they have to donate and people could "request" it.
That would certainly be cool, Tussey
could just make it a phpbb forum, I guess...
Maybe you could just start a new thread on here but make some ground rules as far as posts go to avoid off topic stuff.
I am a member of a local freecycle group where the idea is to give away stuff you don't want/need to people that need it.
The rules for posting on the forum are all posts must either begin with:
Offer: (list items offered)
Wanted: (list items you are looking for)
Taken: (list which items you have taken)
any posts that do not begin with one of the approved headers are deleted.
If you want one of the parts listed you PM the person making the offer and they decide who gets the part.
It is also recommended that the person offering the parts not necessarily give them to the first response but instead be selective to avoid the same person getting all the parts every time.
Oh, and your first post must be an offer.
i like that and i agree that you should have to offer before you can need. Im also on a local freecycle and there are always those names that you see all the time always in need of something and after a while you just want to say damn spend some money and stop free loading everything. like needed pair of white socks.... are you kidding me goto walmart of the dollar store and for like 2 bucks you can get socks...lol
sounds like you guys are really running with this thing and have gotten the logistics figured out. Nice. I posted up another free thing in another thread but if I find more stuff in the garage do you want it to go thru mckenzie at gmail or are you planning on trying to start a separate pay it forward forum section?
On a separate note, I hope people realize karma or not that these things really do come full circle. I gave away a set of gloves and mirrors last week and in the spirit of things another member put some luggage brackets up for free. I needed luggage brackets. It's funny how that works.
No still doing the email thing...haven't gotten any emails, though haha...I'm thinking about making it a phpbb forum, but don't know as of yet. I do know there won't be any rules other than the items are free + shipping expenses. If the same person gets the same parts over and over, that's entirely to the giver's discretion. I know some people have a tendency to take take take, but I didn't see any of that the last time I had the junkyard going.
