Title: DESPERATELY NEEDED!
Post by: JHoffy8 on February 06, 2009, 05:05:42 PM
I broke the part that actuates the clutch  :technical:. It is located under the sprocket cover and runs from where the clutch rig is and straight across into the engine and in front of the chain. There is a picture attached. I am unable to ride until I get this and the shop said end of next week. Anyone have one? I will pay for overnight shipping. Thanks -Josh

Hi there,

It's called a clutch pushrod.
And no you should not try and weld it.
You'll have to order it from a dealer if you can't find a used one.
How did that break?
Did your chain snap and then tear up the pushrod?

Good luck.

How long is it, I have a  few of those off ZX10's and MAY have one off a GS500E, if you can wait until saturday for me to look.

uhhh...go to lowes or home depot and buy a piece of roundstock and cut it to fit.

make sure to buy cold rolled round stock :).

nothing wrong with welding it if you know what your doing it would come out fine.

buying round stock is the best solution though!

yeah I thought about going to home depot and making one but I thought I'd try here. I broke it when I accidently put bike into gear before I finished attaching master link... stupid I know. Anyway I found this http://www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/1/Suzuki.aspx

under clutch for a 2005 gs 500f do I need but 18/19? Thanks

I'm going to look and see if I've got one for you today.  chances are that I VERY WELL might just have that part just sitting in a bin of random GS stuff.   I know I have two extras off an 86 GPZ1000, and numerous other things for that model particularly, but those probably wont realistically help you now.

And I do in fact have one, seems like you've got a replacement already, but if ya wind up needing one for like a spare, or whatever, jsut say the word.  this tiny freakin thing is really short compared to a majority of pushrods I've seen.

The cheapest source of OEM parts I know of is www.bikebandit.com

By the way, how did you break your clutch pushrod while changing the chain?  You had the engine running??!!   :nono:
