Looking for either a full stocker or just the can.
A little rust is ok but I don't want anything with dents or scratches (that's the problem I have now)
I am looking to sell mine in the next few weeks... just sandblasted and repainted black. Check back in a bit if you still need it / help me find an aftermarket at a reasonable price.

I have one from a 2001 that is pretty clean. Where are you at, shipping the exhaust may cost more that it is worth. Maybe I can hack it all up into little pieces so it will fit in a nice box? :technical:

I am in Texas and I am sure shipping a full exhaust will be cost prohibitive but maybe just the can wouldn't be too bad.
I don't want to pay for a stock can unless it is way better than the one I already have, Is yours scratched or dented?
If you cut the stock can off to make shipping cheaper and easier you'll have to take it to a muffler shop to get it welded or flanged and clamped back together. There goes what you would save on shipping and then some. It doesn't sound to me like you have an emergency since you want a new muffler for cosmetic reasons. The GS 500 is a very common bike and the cheapest thing to do is wait till spring, find someone with one who doesn't live too far from you, ride your bike there, switch systems, then ride back home. It's a 20 minute job if you use a 6mm T-handle hex wrench. $6 at Advance Auto Parts and it comes with various hex and screwdriver bits. It makes the job a snap. Don't try to use a folding hex set or L-shaped hex wrenches to do this job. It'll be a big pain. I just learned that last week. Otherwise drop $300 and get a V&H system and a jet kit.
Thanks for the tip on using a T-handle I had planned on using a folding set.
Were you able to reuse the header gaskets or did you have to get new ones to prevent leaking?
I would love to find a full system really cheap and local but I think I will have better luck buying a muffler and paying $10 to have it welded on.
