On my lunch break today one of my supervisors asked me if I would like to take his new HD Night Rod out for a Spin. This would be my first time riding a HD. So I take it for a 10-15 minute ride, up K-10, 435 East, and College Blvd. It was kinda fun, like a Lazy boy recliner that goes fast and weighs 600 lbs.
When I get back to the office and park the bike, I notice the key fob is missing. The ignition in this bike is on the side, but I didn't know that after turning the iginition, the key fob is supposed to be removed. I just assumed it stayed in the ignition like any other vehicle. So I lost his key, it fell out while riding. His bike will no longer start. So I'm running my ass around the parking lot, down the street and finally found the key on the side of the road on the entrance ramp to K-10. I was only 30 minutes late back from lunch. Whew.
some lessons we learn the hard way eh? hope you enjoyed your run. :D
weird.. you got to remove the key... how weird...
that's f%$king backwards as hell and i would have done the exact same thing. At least you found, thats just plain not my luck or i would have found it smashed :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

i test rode one last week. if i were not afraid of jail i wouldnt have rought it back lol :police: :police: :police:
i havent ridden a v-rod yet, but i know they are much faster then my twin cam 96 dyna
yea the ignition thing is kind of wierd - you go into smaller communities where people actually have a bit of trust, and most guys just leave the ignition unlocked all the time.
my bike has the security system, so i leave the ignition unlocked 24/7, but the bike wont turn on unless ive got the fob in my pocket. i love that.

that's some complicated gee-whiz whistle.
as far as the ignition key being removed after unlocking- that's really odd. wonder how much a fancy schmancy key+ special fob will set ya back at the dealer ? ;)

cant be that much, the whole security system was only a $350 option
a buddy of mine has a dyna lowrider. 2003 model. his security sysetem doesn't lock the bike completely. it's kinda like on a time delay. we found that out by accident. >:(
