Title: What type of engines would fit the GS frame?
Post by: Joris on September 22, 2003, 02:42:26 AM
Hello there again, my GS is now really going to die soon, so I wanted to mount a different engine. It`s like a long term project, but I wanna do it anyway. How about the Honda CB500`s or a Kawa gpz500 engine? Are there any other engines which can be fitted into a GS frame without much trouble (I know it`s a lot of work). I could replace the pistons and stuff too, but that doesn`t make it a lot faster, that`s why I want to try to mount a different engine. Thanks!

hi,

it's a "Hyosung Comet 600", but the frame looks like a gs frame and the engine like a sv650 engine.

That would fit, but I think you have to mod the fuel tank to make the upper cylinder fit.

I am curious if a Honda CB1 engine would fit. That's a pretty small 4 cylinder engine with something like 65 HP.

Honda XR650R single. Easy 60 hp, much lighter. Or even a CRF450 or the Yamaha equivalent.

Any in-line 4 is going to be impossible I would think.

I have heard that some of the older truimph trins can be shoe horned in with a little modification.

That Hyosung Comet is a bargain at like $4500.  60 hp twin in a light frame.  I'd buy one to toss around or stunt.

Would a CBR900 fireblade engine fit? Probably not...... And how about a Honda 600cc 4 piston engine. Aren`t those engine a bit too wide?
