Title: opinions of the internals of my engine - pics included
Post by: flair.14 on February 14, 2009, 04:59:07 PM
Some quick pics I snapped with my wife's camera. Considering I have limited experience with these engines, I would like to know what you guys think about the internals of this engine:

The underside of the head:

The engine block:

And finally the pistons:

I could get closer / clearer pics of required. Since I have gone this far, I am planning on replacing the piston rings and I will try to figure out if I have any valve issues.

With the help of my neighbour, I managed to take off the oil pan to search for a copper washer that dropped into the engine. I cursed that copper washer once it fell down but it turns out that it may have been a blessing. We noticed some pieces of...something that was sitting at the bottom of the oil pan. Attached are the pics:

Any idea what this could be from? Tomorrow we will be taking off the engine from the frame and and splitting the crank case to try and resolve this issue as well as attempt to find that cursed copper washer!

Lacquer off the magnet.
The motor looks OK, you burning a bit lean I think, that exhaust valve should be more choclate color. Not too shabby though, I've seen em white as a ghost.
Cool.
