Title: WTB GS500 Engine
Post by: rlue on February 16, 2009, 09:53:38 AM
I need an engine to replace the one in my '89 GS500E.

If any mechanics out there are interested in a trade, my friend and I _just_ rebuilt this one from scratch. We replaced a busted connecting rod, all the bearings, and most of the seals. It runs, but it makes a ticking sound when it revs, and I found little shavings of metal when I changed the oil. There's also an oil leak, but I've been keeping it topped up. I don't think I can handle the task of rebuilding it again, which required some serious academic compromises the first time around.

Located in San Diego, but willing to pay for shipping.

Yes its near impossible to do crank bearings cos well ... they're not available in different sizes and you need to get them turned and polished to within 2-3 /10,000's of an inch.
Cool.
